I pretty sure you need a tune, also. There's a guy in town here with a KA-T, and he has a rom tune with the safc. My guess would be that the stock ecu is seeing something it doesn't like, and is saying,"f*** it!".

so your saying i need a rom tune?

what places or who can tune an S14 N/A SR Ecu for boost?i don't know much about rom tunes. and don't know who to go to. for it.

i thought the safc would be able to handle it on 8lbs.ive heard of guys running KA-ts off afc's and not having a problem like this.

any other ideas?

If I were you, I would contact Jim Wolf Technologies directly and ask them. If anyone knows, it's those guys.

I just checked Enthalpy's site, and they have a tune for the DE (turbo).

http://www.rs-enthalpy.com/ecu.htm

edit- Whoops! I read that wrong, it said KA-T s14, sorry.

It's not a Corolla...

As far as I know, you can't do a proper turbo setup with just the SAFC.I wouldn't want to anyway, not when you're dealing with boost and 10:1 compression.

I can help you with the ROM tune, but I'm not really sure on modifying the ECU for a daughter board for the ROM chips. I understand how it works and all, but you really need to contact Calum Johnson ([email protected]), he can help you figure out the hardware part.

Now, if you really want to do it with out a ROM tune, and I still don't really recommend this either, but with an MSD boost timing master (BTM) and an 8:1 rising rate fuel pressure regulator (RRFPR or FMU). I know a few KA+T guys do this is fairly decent success, but it will only get you so far.

But don't keep driving it like that for sure, you'll melt a hole in a piston.

I guess as long as the AFRs are at least 11:1 when in boost, you should be ok. I would keep an eye on the timing though.

Hook up a laptop and do some consult logs, if you can. Graph out the timing curve, make sure it's not putting too much timing in when under pressure.

Here's my timing map for reference:

Just keep in mind that I don't know what that map would do with out water injection to keep pinging away.
