after some thought i deffinatly want to go all motor. going for a top end rebuild, new valves, rods, sohc pistons only i dont have alot of experience with building motors.... non the less a high compression beast. for those who have gone this route any info like where u got parts and sites would be very helpfull. also i was wondering what kind of numbers by the wheels i would be looking at after buildup and all that jazz. btw with sohc pistons is there a specific year to aim for? do i need a new managment system? besides pistons, new rods what else would i need? btw what is stock CR of a stock ka. oh yeah forgot to add that this is a 91de and this is a daily driver.

Post some made info.........word up

Go with a nismo thermostat.. like 50 bucks on ebay.Lightened flywheel and a good clutch. Intake, header, and exhaust. I use a lightened pulley as well.. the asp model.Check your engine mounts for cracks or wear or replace them with nismo or cusco ones for some better response. Engine managment is going to be a good place to squeeze out some more hp.. megasquirt is awesome as is this site for tuning ka ecus.. http://eccs.hybridka.com/ you have a lot of options such as itbs.. a sponsor is supposed to be comming out with a custom intake manifold for the ka.. or make your own.. Its the same sort of build as I am starting.. keep us up to date with your build!

Well you can go through Nizzx, but you can only use I.E for there server base. http://www.nizzx.com/engine%20build%20up.aspThey offer wiseco's in the 11.1:1 that you will want. I don't think the KA is very streetable after that. Then you will want to take out your secondary butterfly's, and use a JWT cam (too expensive), or get the PDM cam.It will defenitly need an ecu tune, you can go through JET, JWT. I though that enthalapy wouldn't mind doing an ECU tune, but I guess Scott thinks N/A is to panzee or something. He only likes messing with Turbo's.

well from another post i had a guy telling me11.1:1 is very streetablewith proper tuneand now im hearing diffrent, kinda confussing. im just really liking the sohc piston thing cause ive read of gains like 25 by the wheels but i dont want to spend a fortune on gas or mess with timing for a week just to hav it running and not backfiring. all this high compression stuff is kinda new and looks nice. this whole sitch kinda blows tho cause im stressin on what im gonna hav done like all this week cause with college and work time is pressious and i want my baby back strong.

11.1:1 is very streetable, anything after 11.1:1 can become a problem. You can have problems with idle, and lowend power. 11.1:1 is a pretty comfortable setting for a good jump in horse power. I just hope your not worried about smog, the NOX starts to go through the roof after about 2200RPM.

smog shoulnt b a problem for me, liv in ny and gained power is def worth caughin up 50 bucks to bribe or make freinds with edmitions guys. i just wish i would be able to snap my fingers and hav all the parts i need right here. but next best thing is advice n sites. SOHC pistons im reading flat tops wont clear the valves, and with high cr it a must to have new stronger internals so its all up in the air. if anybody has a tried and true setup post that sh$t

Yeah the stuff on ecu tuning can be a little confusing. But its good info to know. Save the hundreds of dollars from getting JWT to tune your ecu and learn how to do it yourself with under 200 bucks and your home computer. Then you can always adjust it if you want and you don't have to pay anyone to reprogram it again and again...hit up DeviousKA.. he sells stuff for both the e and de.. and has tons of knowledge and I think he works for a nissan preformance race team.. he runs the ecu tuning site I showed you to. He can definitaly get you what you need.

Honestly in respects to JWT they are crap, I think we can all agree. Pretty much JWT does what is called Safe Tunning. They will only tune the ecu so much to safegaurd against damaging the engine at higher fuel dumps and ignition. If you don't know that much about ecu tunning start off with a simple piggy back like an SMT6, or the Apexi SAFC, they are pretty much user friendly devices that just need a slight dyno tune.SAFC though doesn't give too much funcionality, and even in getting higher HP numbers the engine can run slightly on the gass guzzling richer side.

iirc, NOX will drop if you use synthetic oil, well it helps the NOX not go through the roof. and thats with 11:1:1 cr.

I asked this question in another thread I started, Insanity INC wasn't to shure. But now I guess in that case, I'll be getting ready for my cali smog check.... I knew that the synthetic would drop NOX, when regular petro oil boils and gets hot it increases NOX. I knew synthetic doesn't burn the same, I was already under the assumption that this could pass my smog check.
