well once again i have recently gotten renewed interest in my 510. but to keep the cost down and hopefully finally get it running, ive decided to ditch the turbo set up until a brighter day.

anybody have, or know where to find info on the jdm ca18de?

Why don't you just put a regular exhaust manifold on you CA18DET?

lol, I did that once on my DSM. My turbo was SHOT so I just disconnected the wastegate arm. It took me almost 30 seconds to reach 70mph when merging onto the highway. 7.8:1 compression and no boost = no acceleration. I doubt 8.5:1 would make much of an improvement...

I think it'd make more than you think. The compression on a CA18DE is only 9.5:1

Ahh my bad. I thought he was saying just putting an NA manifold on his DET. Nevermind then, I am an idiot....

is it that header that you had a while back, or a stock manifold?

It ain't that heavy, $125 shipped would cover the postage and put some gas in my car.

nobody has info on these engines? i dont want anything crazy, just something reliable and cheaper then a turbo.

What will you be doing with the turbo motor? What was left before startup anyhow?

the turbo motor is going to be going in my s13, or in the 510 later on. as far as startup, i needed wiring, new turbo, fuel pump setup, turbo exhaust housing-muffle, intercooler piping,.... the list goes on.

as far as info for the na motor, im just looking for any small power upgrades and such. i plan on beating on it, so i want to know what it can handle, and what i can do to make it take more abuse.

watch your oil pressure. Every time a CA takes a dump it seems to be #1 con rod. Mine was getting ready to go by the look of the bearing. In it's defence that is a year of abuse at my merciless hands; 8500rpm shift points at full steam.

A header, 55-60mm ID muffler and an SAFC should yeild some gains. You will have NO torque though, I reccomend rolling starts. You should be able to play with KA-powered 240s of the same level of tune.

I failed to notice that, in a featherweight 510 you should have good pep. Raise the compression with a 0.6mm head gasket or flycut the head it should be a hot mill for the 510. the manual is in Japanese, don't know if it will be much help. I can list the computer pinouts for you though, I have translated those.

TMS, If you could please email the JDM FSM pinout to me so that I can put in the FAQ, or if you want to put it in there that would work too.

If its a rwd ca, the ecu pinout is the same as the rwd det, just missing the turbo associated stuff, which is not a lot anyway.

To make a N/A DE go good, you need to fit a 60mm throttle body and get the manifold ground out to suit. These T/Bs come on N/A auto sr20de and not much else in the states i think, Oh yea, also on fwd u12 ka24e

Get the compression up to 10.5, run a set of headers, rb20det injectors, they are same high impedance, but 10cc's bigger, give the fpr a tap on the back with a 3/8 extension to increase the fuel pressure.

You can also run a fwd u12 ka24e afm as it is a little bigger. I dont know if the s13 ka24e has the same afm. You have to muck with the wireing as the ka afm is 3 wire and the ca is 4 wire.

Get the cams reground, and advance the intake cam.

That will give your datto a good boost.I have a mate in new zealand that had the same setup, 5 speed s13 box, r200 lsd, shocks/springs/17's and it went like a rocket
