ok, i have done some research and a post i have in the 240 tech forum made me wanna ask the n/a people a question...is there a good alternative engine that can be tuned for a daily driver that can break the 200whp mark? here is the catch...i am looking for a 4 cylinder that weighs close to the same or less than the ka24 and i am looking for something that has great torque like the ka24. i have looked into nissan engines and other makes also...so far the only option i see is using the qr25 from the 2007+ spec-v sentra. ok....suggestions...comments...theories....anything other than turbo options and flamers welcome.....

QR25 ls series VQ/VK N/A SR20 13B basically ANY engine you want, search for it, and someone probably tried to stuff it in there. or, since you want a motor over 200 hp BUT have everything the 24 have, why dont you make the ka hit 200? it has been done, just alot of peaple are nay sayers or give up half way through it

i would say throw a 350 in it but your lookin for 4 cylinders... i've heard of some guy in japan puttin a MR2 motor in an S15 so i don't see why it cant go in a US 240 or you could go with... duh duh duh... a KA and just put some cams in it and port and polish the head then get an intake and exhaust system that will be enough to satisfy you with reliability just get it rebuilt at some point you'll be good to go or you could 13B

oh my word....the 13b or any rotary engine is CRAP!!!!i have worked on enough of them to know this for a fact. as far as the 200whp ka24...thats not gonna happen for 2 reasons. 1-its a ton of money that could have been used on a lighter, more powerful engine and 2-at that power its not gonna be a very good daily driver. i noticed the vq30 swap and it seems like a good alternative for the ka24...but i am gonna have alot of fabrication as far as transmission fit goes, but i am not afraid of fabrication. i am capable of it. i would like to stick with a 4 cylinder if i can...not real sure why a 4 banger but for some reason thats what i want. i am absolutly 100% positive that i do not want to install a chevy engine, hell or any domestic engine at all. i was really just wondering if there was a good alternative to the ka24 without going turbo...and can reliably have 200+whp with torque not far from that number. i know the s2000 enigne is freakin awsome, but unfortunatly i am not loaded with cash. if i could afford the f20c or f22c, i think that would be a possibility and probably couldnt afford a qr25 swap either. i'd like to find a decent n/a alternative without spending over $5 grand total cost. i also think the qr25 could be something we see in the future and i think it has alot of potential despite what you read on the internet. i own an altima with the qr25 and it is a great engine, plus i worked for nissan for close to 9 years as a mechanic and i dont think for one second that the qr25 is a bad idea for a swap. when the qr25 first came out people said it would never see 200hp and it would be alot like the ka24 as far as high revving goes...now we see the 2007+ spec-v's with 200chp and a 7000 rpm redline. its a well designed engine, and like any other manufacturer, nissan did drop the ball with the older models (mines a 2003 model) but have seen the error of their ways and have fixed the problem. now having said my peace on the qr25 enigne i will shut up.i really just wanted to know options for my goals and to see what other naturally aspirated people are doing as far as ka24 replacements....i am open for discussion on this topic but please, no domestic and no rotary engines lol.
