I have been searching for help but I can't find any on what these wires are for. They come out of the firewall on the driver's hand side of my 1991 240sx. This is my first 240 and it does not run and I saved it from being a piece of scrap metal so I didn't expect much. Maybe this is the reason it wont get any power to the starter but I dont know and I suck with wiring diagrams. THank you for trying to help me. I am slightly impaired when it comes to con-carbureted motors.

Isn't that where the Flux Capacitor connects?

Good chance to learn. See if you can find a friend that can help with the wiring diagrams and get them to help trace things down. Wiring Diagrams are not as bad as people think once you use them a time or two.

The other poster said it may be for a Fog Lamp option. See if you can find it on your diagrams and try to follow it. Welcome to the group.

Nissan never ran wiring through the grommet for the hood release cable (which I see at least 2 different looms coming out of it in your pic) That's extra wiring for something user added. Your best bet is to follow it back under the dash and see where it goes.

As far as your car not starting, you should start by checking to make sure that all the components are working correctly. Namely the starter relay (big blue relay next to the battery mounted on the fender well) and the clutch interlock switch (switch at the clutch pedal).

I have my fan switch hooked up through that grommet, it's easily accessible.

On another note, wtf is that green box? Mine has that too I don't know what it is.

The wires might have been for an alarm system. The siren for my alarm is mounted in that area on my car.

Green box: that's the wiper amplifier. If your wipers won't turn off, that's the bit you need to replace.

I finally got some time to work on my car today and you all were right. It was an aftermarket alarm system. I almost have it removed and I am thinking that that is my my car wont start. My buddies Rodeo had on on it and he tripped it by accident so we had to remove it scompletely before it would start again. My wipers work fine and the amplifier hasn't been messed with. Thank you for all of your help and if you have any extra front end parts laying around I might be interested.

I would say those wires were from an alarm. Almost all the alarms use red and black wires for the siren. Hope this solves your mystery wire problem.

Edit : My bad, I posted before reading the entire thread, seems like a few people answered your question. I just saw the picture and Immediately I knew what those wires were for. Hope i was a help

No, don't apollogize. I greatly appreciate any help. I re-ran the wires for the alarm and got a switch so I can override the system. I got the car to start finally. Now My fuel pump went bad. Guess thats what happens when a car sits for 5 years.
