TL;DR
So some one or group has bought up the entire stock of European cocoa. The trade took place on the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (Liffe), a market which trades contracts in commodities such as corn, wheat, sugar, coffee and cocoa. So much was bought at one time that it will affect the global price of cocoa and now the European supply is in the hands of whom ever bought the cocoa. This comes after a series of weak harvests in Ghana and the Ivory Coast, the main areas where the crop is grown. Fears of floods in the Ivory Coast have sent prices even higher, as speculators have bet on another poor harvest, and a shortage of supply.

STL;DR
Stock up on your favorite chocolate goodies because soon the price for them will either increase, or less chocolate will be incorporated.

Yes, all those products have cocoa.
Thanks for the update!

He is a genius! My questions is this...
The man is worth £36 million, so how does he make a trade for £658 million?

A hedge fund is a private partnership that pools money from wealthy individuals, pension funds, corporations, and the like, and invests it to make a profit. So its not just his money.

We live in America, not Europe. This will not affect us.

Ah, I missed the part that said he was a hedge fund manager. Makes sense. His clients are excited I bet...

Seriously, it won't affect us that much. The amount he bought is only equivalent to the entire European stash. That leaves quite a bit of the world to follow. We also have our other sources.
