sorry for making a new topic but for some reason i cant find a reason to why this happend. ok ever since i got my car from my dad maybe before december of last year i have had a engine light check on my car. and i know you guy are prob. like "well y didnt you check it out when it first came on" my reason was because my dad just had something fix to get rid of it when he had it happen to him. but now for some odd reason it not lit up anymore. but does light up when i start my car(to show that the light works) i dont know if this is a bad thing or a good thing that the car might have fixed itself and that i would save money...

things that were changed between the time frame...new brake pads on front and rearnew front brake disksfront strut bar

If theres no light on then whats the problem??

If inspections due soon, take it now. My S14's light plays peek-a-boo with me all the time.

If it is really bothering you that much just spin donuts in the parking lot until the light comes back on.

the light is supposed to come on when you first turn the ignition. it the check engine comes on and stays on then look into it. (general car maintenance)

i know that it is suppose to come on to show that it is working but the fact that it fixed itself where i didnt do anything to change a part but the brakes, makes me wonder if something just fell off completly or just got remolded to fix the problem.

excuse the accent , well i would say run a self-diagnostics test on your car. does it run okay? if it does, you can turn the dial on the ecu and reset it, hence making the "check engine" light go off. i cant remember the specifics on how to do it, but check around. good luck

there are many reasons as to why your check engine light is on

sometimes it is major and sometimes it is very silly/small

I had check engine light on one time after not closing my gas door properly, this caused improper vacuum and threw a code.

I don't know if this is the case but personally I think you're worrying too much right now. Just ignore it until you see it again and when you do, go to your local autozone to borrow a code reader to determine the exact problem.
