I want ya'lls opinion on this.

I think that most J30s have transmission issues b/c they are so darn heavy...I mean, 3500+ lbs in curb weight is not an easy task for an auto trans to carry. Think this may be true?

Same for the engine...I think that most J30 owners here look to increase the HP/torque to give the car a more lively feeling, because IMO, the V6 is underpowered, again considering the weight of the car. Any feedback or other ideas??

No point in killing a car by taking everything out of it in the name of speed. To m a fast car has to also look good, So go with twin turbos and a manual transmission and then tell me what you think.

The funny thing is when this car debuted, the horsepower out of the v6 was considered class leading. It's funny how much things have progressed.

I know, right? *lol*

I remember seeing a Mazda 929 w/a similar engine on howstuffworks.com, but it was quoted as 180 RWHP...& had the same weight as the J. Ouch.
