Just got my 82 720 back from my parents. In great shape, mostly was in TX in no rain or salt.

Anyways, I have this hose that is going nowhere when clearly it is suppose to have a home. Anyone know where it is suppose to go, and how horrible it is that it is running unattached?

I looked in the Service Manual, but to be honest I was overwhelmed trying to figure it out.

I circled where I think it goes, but that is just a guess since it is just hanging out there open like the hose.

Thanks.

Need a better/closer picture of it.

Upgrade those battery cables, go at least 2ga. Most auto parts stores sell specified lengths for cheap!

Thanks for looking at it and for the suggestion on the battery cable. I"ll take a picture this weekend that is closer.

Again thanks for taking a look.

If it runs well without it, I'd leave it alone. But that's just my opinion.

Thanks for the response. It runs great, and the mechanic who went over it said it was great. He didn't see this though, and I see from the picture it was like this before he looked at it.

Here are some closer pics. I appreciate the help. This is the first car I am attempting to do some work myself, and I know that may not be interesting to the more advanced guys on this forum.

Thanks again.

welcome to the forum!
Look at the post that shows the vacuum line placement. It's at the top of the page as a sticky.
Within that post, you will see a few vacuum lines that connect under the air cleaner housing. Moving through the next 13 pics in that post should help you get it connected. It looks like line C in the post.

As for the open steel line, let me look a bit more in that same post and see if I can find it.
Good luck and that truck looks like it's in nice shape.

Thank you very much. You know I looked at that post, and I must be an idiot for not seeing it. Stupid.

Let me know if you see what that open port is on the firewall.

Thanks again!

Did you ever figure this out?

If not let me know and I'll scan my FSM, pretty sure there shouldn't be too many changes between our model years and I may be able to find out what each are.

Hi,

I did not figure out what the open pipe is for. It runs fine so I may just ignore it and focus on removing all the vac instead. If you have an easy way to figure it out, I appreciate any input.

The vaccuum line I found in the FSM on EF&EC-115 image SEC182A, That 3-way connector (white, in front of air filter assembly) that it attaches to is the "3-way connecter(sic) to E.G.R. control valve". That's just a portion of the exhaust emission control system, which you may be bypassing/disabling completely pending what you're doing with your vaccuum lines. That particular top connector (SEC376A) says that it should be an incoming vacuum line from front air cleaner.

The hard line, however - just to make sure I'm recognizing things correctly: is this an auto w/o air conditioning? There should (well, *should* being relative) be some other lines over there unless I'm missing something... I find diagrams mentioning what all the lines around it are, but not that specific one. If I remember later when I'm free I'll check and see if my truck has the same line.

Correct it does not have A/C. I appreciate the note, and for looking.

The flared end shows its not a vacuum line. Can you trace it on the fire wall to see where it goes. I'm baffled.

I will trace it back, and see where it goes. I may not know anymore by doing that but I'll see if I can explain where it goes or take a picture.

I appreciate the help, and all the looking.

The line that connects to it runs down.

Then it splits to two hard lines. 1 runs to the very front of the truck, and then i have no idea.

The other one goes to the back, until around the transfer case / guard, and then I couldn't figure out where.
