Mysterious Black Box

I'm about to do an egr delete this weekend and I pretty much know how to do so but I have this random box that sits in front of my power steering reservoir that I don't see in any other engine bay shots. Does anyone know what it does or if I can remove it?And there's a line that runs from the downpipe to it as wellThanks, please don't flame I've searched for it already...

It's an aiv pair valve, part of the emissions system.all it does is warms your cat converter at idle.

Okay thanks, if I just take it out will there be any vacuum leaks or anything?

You do not need it especially if you are doing an EGR delete. That PAIR valve only functions during the warm up stage. Once the car is fully warmed you could even pass emissions without it(In most states given they dont expect it to be there.)

Ok I just took out the box and the car idles like it should now... Haha I didn't even know that was the problem, anyways that tube that comes out of the downpipe is a b**** to get off and I rounded off three sides of the nut trying to do so. Has anyone else had this problem?

You can't just take this thing off without plugging the hole in your exhaust pipe that comes off... where you said you rounded the nut. You need to either get it out w/ a monkey wrench (works best because it bites the harder your torque) or weld it shut, or put a nickel in the hole and re-tighten said nut.Maybe you did get it off I can't tell from what you said lol.

I know I can't just leave it open... But I need to get the thing off first to plug it, and I let it soak in some liquid wrench for half an hour n it still wont budge. Haha and no I didn't get it off yet.

that would be part of the egr..How do you go about doing an egr delete when you don't even know whats part of the egr system?

Anyway get the plug for the downpipe from nissan I did and it was like 6 bucks
