I finally decided to get off my lazy *** and install the KA ive been piecing together since last august. This motor originally came in a 93 hicas parts car i picked up. i had a local machinist clean up the block and i had my friend fiznat help me with the assembly. it was supposed to go back into the 93 hatch and become my KA-T, but in feburary i picked a beautiful 95 zenki and lets just say that i had some misgivings about the condition of that motor. i skipped class on thursday and started the engine removal/installation. Fiznat was kind enough to let me use his garage over the weekend to get the job done, and he once again lended a hand when it came time to button everything back together and time the motor.
Here are some photos from the initial engine buildup that took place over spring break. Every part for the motor tagged bagged and laid out, ready for assembly. I love powdercoating parts, they look so pretty when theyre done. Heres the block seconds before it was honed. I dont know why, but the photo makes it look like there is rust in the cylinder, there wasnt... Damn! thats a sexy motor! Ummm, not as sexy, but it came with a decent intake, and a real Cusco strut bar....bonusHeres a shot after all the fluids were drained and the real disassembly started. Fast foward to the next day and a few boughts of swearing and drinking....and magicly the new motor is almost in! Heres the new KA relaxing after moving under its own power. Dont worry, im going to get the a few more parts powdercoated and then the wiring harness will be hidden. Im going for the cleanest KA ever while retaining all the stock emissions crap. (the red hose is just temporary, I swear!) from above... The end of a pretty good weekend. and yes, we took it for a test drive sans hood, people were staring. They prolly thought i had a MAD TYTE ESAR!!
