My Z won't shift into 3rd! :O(

Hey guys i'm brand new to this forum, good to meet ya!

My 84 Z non turbo has been having a problem going into 3rd when its cold. I'd have to usually wait till it's warm then manually shift it from 2nd to drive (3rd), (automatic trans), and it would slip in. This morning it was driving fine on the highway and then when i slowed down it wouldn't go back into 3rd and now it won't at all. When it does go into 3rd it drives fine. So i'm not quite sure if it's the transmission or not. Any help is appreciated.

sounds like iether a worn band, clogged passage in the valve body and/or a sticking dashpot, either way the trans needs a rebuild, not a bad time to consider a 5 speed swap, much less trouble in the long run and you get the joy of driving with 3 pedals as nature intended

Thanks for the help. I'm taking it to the auto shop today. The owner of the place loves my car so i'm gonna have him work on it.
