so i just bought my Z a couple weeks ago from a lady who had it parked for a while and iv been driving it gently for the time iv had it while it "wakes up" from its hibernation, and i decided to open it up today and give it a little boost and make sure everything worked under full load...well 198 KPH / 121 MPH later i am now regretting not buying that valentine Radar detector. i got pulled by the cops and got it impounded for 7 days and a 484 dollar ticket for excessive speed. cop was nice enough not to arrest me and i keep my license and no court date...i think i have a horseshoe up my a**...whats your biggest "WTF was i thinking!" moment in your Z?
right as i passed the cop i just pulled over before he even put the lights on and he saw i was quite remorseful and he was gracious on a new level and for that i will be eternally grateful...i would have been royally screwed if he had decided to give me what i honestly deserved. so let this be a lesson to you all...as a guy who drives responsibly 99.9% of the time...resist the urge to use the turbo power unless your at the track...

Lets hope this is a learning lesson to everyone. 121mph on the street is just stupid, plain stupid. I'm glad no one was hurt and your Z is alright.

i regret putting 110 race gas in a 1.6l miata not tuned for it & at 220k miles... hitting 125mph in it (IMPOSSIBRU!!!)...installing the rear coilovers the next day, only to have the engine break all but 1 rod a half mile from the shop.

I got it back to teh shop with my ex in the car, on one alive cylinder, slammed 3 inches in the rear, and dumping oil everywhere. :gapteeth:

why have these cars if you dont let them rip once in awhile, but sorry for your luck. a $500 ticket doesn't sound too bad for 120 mph. wonder how the insurance works in canada? do they audit your license every year or something like that?

i dont mind the aspect of driving at insane speeds on the highway as long as you are the only one putting yourself at risk with no one else on the road. anyway, next time maybe have a friend drive ahead of you a mile or something to scout it out. best of luck with the ticket and insurance.

Thats what we do, have my girlfriend drive in her car a mile or so(depends on the road) a head and keep her on the cell, speaker phone. then we race! i would never go fast down a city street, even a small dog or cat can cause a lot of damage at 120, and forget it if a hobo or hooker jumps out in front of you!

Oh man I was lucky.....I decided to test the car out on a feeder road in houston. light turned green and next thing i know i hit 145 with no traffic in front. I stopped at the next light, and a car was trying to chase me down. He pulls up next to me and rolls his window down and gave me a thumbs up and kept asking me if I was ok, I replied yea about three times, He giggles and pulls his HPD badge out and says hes undercover. WTF my eyes lit up and I said Wont happen again officer and smiled. He kept telling me that he could arrest me but he had better things to do so he pulled away.

Thursday I got pulled over for the first time since I bought the car over 2 years ago...speeding and illegal lane change. It was stupid, I was driving like a moron following my brother. $485 if I pay it...more if I get a lawyer I'm sure. Haven't decided what to do yet. Leaning towards lawyer because my job might be upset about that many points on my license

Sorry bout the luck!
the one time i decided to test my z was on the way to dallas at 2am. completely empty highway i got up to 124 and passed a cop coming on the freeway:( there was no use in waiting, i pulled over before they flipped the lights on. luckily it was a lady cop so i put on my kid face and got the mom speech, learned my lesson. saving it for a closed road ahaha.
