So after my Oil Change with its complementary 27 point inspection from West Houston Infiniti (It was about 4,000 miles overdue ) I learned that I'm going to need a new Valve Cover Gasket, and a Tensioner Rood... I'm sure the Rood was a typo but they quoted the price with labor and parts to be around $1250 if memory serves me right.

I looked at Joe's parts and I found a Valve Cover Gasket, however there was no Tension or Tensioner rod, then I thought, is the Tension rod the same thing as a Tie rod? What exactly is a Tensioner Rod, and what kind of negative things can I expect?

I'm just trying to get an idea of how much the parts would cost so I can see how much I can get my own mechanic to do it since hes done the Valve Cover Gaskets in our Chrysler Minivan so I'm sure he can do one in the Q45, but either way, I'd still LIKE to get West Houston Infiniti to do it, unless I can save a large sum of cash.

Valve cover gaskets take about 6 shop hours so multiply the difference in labor rates..............usually independents charge $25-$40 per hour less but they will of course lack the skills of working on Q41 everyday.

We always offer to change engine spark plugs while doing valve covers for just 1 hour extra labor saving customer some labor.

I think they mean Tension rod. You should replace both, they are about $150 per side and take minutes to replace if you're handy.

Valve cover gaskets are $40 in parts so it sounds like they are charging about $800 in labor, kind of a lot in my opinion. Neither job is that hard-search on here for my thread on valve cover gaskets.

Is a Tension Rod the same thing as a Tie Rod? Or should I just go ahead and get it from my dealer instead of Joe because he doesn't have any listing for a Tension Rod and even then, googling Car Tension Rods give me less than ideal results.

A tie rod is different from a tension rod-not the same. Best to call joe.Tension rod (bushings go bad) is part of the suspension-tie rod, steering. Good luck.

You can buy the tension rod bushing only from Joe and have it pressed in.
