I'm about to go and pick up my 99 I30t that was wrecked a couple weeks back. I was supposed to get the car on Monday, however, when I went to pick it up, right off I noticed the ABS light was on, so I go back in to the collision center, tell them, they tell me to leave the car, and keep my rental. Question: What else could be wrong with my brakes? They said it was probably a sensor, and that's what they ordered, but the brakes felt awfully hard to me when I pushed on them, what I'm asking is would the ABS problem make my brakes feel hard to push? Should I be on the lookout for something else when I pick up my vehicle? Thanks for any help.

Make sure you check that the bulb works, it should light up with the key on run but before you crank the engine. Favorite trick in situations like this is to remove the bulb and claim it's repaired. They may have arc welded without proper precautions and fried something electronic.

Car: should be obvious enough

if the brakes were much harder to depress, that is an indication that youve lost your power brakes. Sensor has nothing to do with it.

the welding is another worry, i hope the work was done at a reputable shop.
