MASSIVE EDIT 02/03/2007

--- Headlights --- The deal on the 50W hid fell through, i ALMOST got ripped for 347$.. good ol' paypal's protection hooked me up, and i got my money back. (might hold back on the kit til later this year) I still need to set up my in-dash headlight aiming switch (comes standard on 99+) got the pigtail wiring, i just need to go and run the wires from the dash to the headlight aiming motors.

--- rollers ---

I've already purchased some 19x8 rims, arriving 02/08/2007i am still choosing a set of affordable tires to go along with them.. Still looking for opinions on either

245 / 35 / ZR 19 (25.8" diameter)245 / 40 / ZR 19 (26.7" diameter) OEM is 26.2" diameter

I believe the Q's OE tires rating is a 97.. so thats another part of choosing a tire i have to take into effect. most the 35 series tires i find have less than a 97 rating on them. while the 40's have upwards of 108+

--- breaks --- - Drilled rotors- Hawk HPS pads (front and rear) And new e-brake drum shoe- possibly paint the calipers silver, for the nice new look.. or maybe even just clean the living crap out of them, until they are naturally silver again :p- Does anyone have any opinions / suggestions for brake lines. I have heard rumors that the 240sx's lines fit. Any input?

--- Suspension ---

I have come to accept that 19's will look rediculous on a stock height Q45, So the tiens will be my most likely source, unless i can find a set of eibach's somewhere, used or new.. This will also be a pure "impulse" choice

--- interior ---

New 1999 center console installed, and wired, got me an analog clock now!

--- Misc ---

Also installed a new battery. a Duralast Gold from auto-zone.

Headlights (already upgraded to 2001 aniversary xenon).Install my 50W D2R kit (15w brighter than standard HID, going from 3200 lumens to 4400 lumens)

As long as they don't draw more current than the wiring and relay can take. What exactly are they?

Suspensionpossibly going to drop on Tein springs, and energy suspension bushings pressed in.

Get the KYB SR Specials. Be sure your dental plan is current.

Brakescross-drilled Rotors, Hawk HPS front and rear pads, and Stainless Steel Lines

Get the right rotors, not Chinese imitation.

Wheels18x8" Q45, M45, FX45 chrome 8 spoke... still unsure which ones for now

Exhaust2.5" true dual setup, X-pipe, Twin Magnaflow's

Already has a "true dual" exhaust. Headers would be nice if you want to gain performance.

IntakeCold Air Intake, Using the JWT pop-charger, 3.5" piping

Already has a very efficient CAI. Pop-Charger will decrease performance and engine life.

Presume all fluids and filters and rubber are fresh?

I already made my own headlight harness to convert the stock H4, into the dual outlet for the 01' headlight setup, using 14ga wiring, 2 bosch relays (40A), as well as fuses at pretty much every power source... i could probably start the engine with it..

If strut replacement is a must, i might hold off on a drop, im still VERY iffy on it to begin with.

Still researching rotors to buy, anyone have some suggestions?

With the exhaust, im still doing some thinking, but im definatly going to get it to rumble by summer.

it may have an efficient CAI now, but it still goes over the extremly hot radiator, im going to make an alternate means of cooler air.

Also updated, I had to buy a battery today, anyone living in texas, knows this massive ice flash we just had, i guess my old battery couldnt take it. *sigh* Duralast gold went in.. not too bad for an 8 year warranty, and a price of only 82$

Couple of therads on this worth reading. Joe had a great special on Stillen Brembo.

It is a high pressure area. Radiator heat transfer is negligible, even at idle.

Probably saved your alternator.

yea, definatly saved the alt

On a new update, I just won/recieved off ebay..

42$ shipped

installed it today, in about 30 minutes, including wiring up the analog clock, All the automatic AC stuff plugged Directly in to the 98 setup, all the switches plugged right in (except 2, which i dont need, i believe its a suspension, or sunroof switch on the bottom left, and the auto-dimming headlight switch on the right, i have one already) Deifnatly cleans up the Y33, making it look more like an infiniti

Well, I figure id go ahead and update the thread, now that tax time is here and all.

After doing some serious soul searching, and experimenting. I think my previous 3 240sx's got me hooked into a "every mod you do has to be preformance biased" mind-set.. im going to try to stay away from it with the Q. upon other members opinions, the pop-filter/CAI will definatly be a waste of money, and the exhaust will just steal the soul of the car away.. "silent yet deadly" comes into mind.

It is wise to consider what increment of performance one will gain with any variation from OEM as new. I like the Eibachs for their higher spring rate and yet not low enough to scrape all driveways and speed bumps encountered in everyday driving. With the KYB SR the ride has lost some of its luxuriousness, but it has gained better control and preciseness which is a more than acceptable trade off.

I too appreciate the dropped jaws when I blow by the Benz, BMW, and Mustang drivers that don't hear me coming. Why be louder when it's not faster? These cars were built for quiet operation, whcih is the first thing I miss when I ride in a smaller car, no matter how good that car is.

I would be concerned about your choice of rolling diameters for your wheels and tires interfering with the function of the cars TCS. You don't state weight, but that along with the increase of the rear diameter will slow your cars acceleration.

Finally, the disparity between the load capacity will only increse the tendency to understeer and yield less precision in handling. With 54% of the weight on the front wheels with the additional demand of dynamic loading, the increased load rating of a larger tire is best used there. Staggered wheel fitments in these cars with stock engine and drivetrains is aa cosmetic affectation, not a performance enhancer over a proper fitment of OEM diameter tires front and rear.

Dedicating the saved funds from frilly non performance enhancing frou frousto increased maintenance (an ATF cooler for instance) will yield many more enjoyable benefits.

On 19"? Probably have to utilize 35 series, unless you want to increase diameter.

as i posted, ill either lose .6" or gain .6" in overall diameter. its all a matter of how the rims fit under the wheel well
