Read the how to buy a Q45 sticky above.elwesso wrote:I would tend to agree... I would just email the seller and say that if you in short, i wouldnt buy a car on ebay unless it was so cheap that it doesnt matter.
LOL i think i read that like like about 5 times.. I was like dam, how do u sell ebay???pito11213 wrote:GEEZ, DAN, YOUR BOY SOLD EBAY, DAMMIT.....
LOL
The guy selling is a retiree and he refers to the car as "his baby" so I'm dealing with an emotional situation here. Of course folks selling a long owned car tend to develope an affection for their and I understand. However to me it's just a car the I would like to buy and there are others like it for sale.pito11213 wrote:I dont think I would buy a car without viewing it in person or at the very least having 50+ high resolution shots of every nook and cranny. We are talking about a very large purchase here. I believe that an ebay bid is binding by the way, so think this out before you proceed.
OK I am a Grandpa myself and I am very leery of cars that have been owned by anyone younger than me Now having said that, I just bought a 2003 VW Passat from a young guy for my granddaughter, and lo and behold, the car is spotless and pristine. However the guy is going to be a lawyer (read conservative) and he kept the car up with a view of selling it.1990QOwner wrote:I am an ebay seller, I sell on eBay for a living. I would give the seller a day or 2 to respond before giving it up. You can retract your bid if you need to but if you do it very much than eBay will kick you off.
I wouldn't buy a Q without giving it a physical first, I mean literally. You got to quiz the guy down about it's tratement and services ect. Many times if you are buying from an old grandpa than there is a good chance the car hasn't been flogged.
Please post the eBay item # up or a link to the auction. You can also request the seller's phone # from eBay and they will USU. give it to you.
That's standard ebay practice. You're actually giving them your maximum bid and they post only as much as it takes to outbid the previous bidder. The next bidder has to keep upping his bid until it exceeds yours.RAP wrote:...but Ebay posted an offer below what I wrote in and I;m wondering about that. I don't think I made a typo ? ? ?
Yeah age does means something. I damn sure ain't gonna spin my car around on the highway or do anything that will possibly unduly stress it.( I can see the burnt rubber circles on the highway and they ain't something gramps do). I like to drive fast but I no longer think I am the BEST there is and I've been scootin' down the road a looooong time so I ain't about to test the limits of the speedo on my car.Romeo5k wrote:car fax gives u a ball figure, it doesnt give u everything....ive seen things done to carfax that un imaginable. 1 on 1 interview with my car is the only way im buying..Age means nothing,,, we all drive crazy and im 26 and still sometimes get that adrenaline. And so will a 50 year old and so will a 18 year old... But thats just my opinion.
That may be good, because a lot of retirees sell their car because they didn't want to spend the funds to maintain it and something finally broke or started to fail that will cost a lot to replace.RAP wrote:I did state that the seller is a RETIREE. The snap shot of the car shows a big house in the background and based on that it seems like a high rent district.
Well I'm already here. Been here a looooong time and don't ya kno I have not been able to find a car "Q45" that I would buy as yet. There is one that I saw and decided against, another that might still be around a Ford dealers lot but it's black and not for me. I even called the Infinity dealer and no cigar but I left my name and phone number. I checked Craiglist and left a WANTED ad all over LA but nada.szhosain wrote:And, as always, beware of cars from some areas. Like Louisiana. Not all cars have problems, of course, but many of the cars on the market from there were a bit submerged for a while - even if partially.
If you see tell-tale watermarks (door insides, wheel wells, seating area, etc.), then avoid the car like a plague.
