Ok, little bored and trying to get this done on the 27/28 of this month. Trying to get everything in order to get it done in 2 days. Few questions and I'll use this thread to post the pics/outcome of the project.

Trying to get everything I need for the swap (been a while since a friend helped me on my old coupe 5spd swap).

I have:-full donor coupe, so taking everything off of it-front/rear transmission seals-rear engine seal-OEM throwout bearing-OEM release bearing-ordered new Exedy OEM clutch kit-picking up 3 qts of transmission fluid (redline or royal purple)

Anyone think of anything else needed?

Also, best/new way of getting the AT throwout bearing out?

Thanks

That's what I call the throwout bearing, I've heard it both ways.

Do they work on the AT pilot? If so, can you rent them at advance auto or something?

... the one i rented at autozone was a giant piece of garbage. i ended up having to cut/grind out the old a/t bearing. my friend zach told me to chisel it out, but i didn't like the sound of that. good luck.

last time I tried to get a pilot bushing out.. I found that a flathead screwdriver made a really nice chisel and cut right through it like butter. Make a few incisions and the pieces come right out.

Pilot bearing is different than throw out bearing fyi...

Are you using the old throwout or a new one? I would highly recommend a new one...on my old car, we did a swap without changing anything and turns out the throwout was shot, so we had to drop the transmission down again. Could have been avoided.

when you do the 5spd swap the is a cooling unit the usaly go bad and dont let you bleed the system right just take it out it's between the hard line and the slave cyclinder. to bypass it connect the hardline driectly to the slave.

Hey Biggie, Do you have help getting this done? Where are you going to do the swap? I've never done this but want to do the swap on mine. Maybe I could help on yours and then you could help on mine later on. Interested?

If not, just take lots of pictures for me please. This is out of my league and I really don't want to pay someone else if possible.....we'll maybe some food and beer ;>)

if you want to pay really close attention to detail and win brownie points with 94_240sx, swap your automatic radiator with one from a manual car. you'll notice that the transmission cooler is integrated inside the radiator. this is completely unecessary though.

I've got 3-5 people helping, its at a friend's house. The friend is out of the country and he's the one giving me the coupe to use and the concrete pad to work on. Since he's not around he doesn't want anyone there that he doesn't know, otherwise you'd be welcome to help.

I'll designate someone's gf or something to take pics, figure I'll be covered in transmission fluid, if its like the last one I did on my old coupe.
