My Versa used to beep.

Well guys, I have a question thats most likely pretty silly sounding. Every now and then I will use my key fob to lock and unlock the doors, and sometimes I just use the key and the lock switch on the door itself. I noticed that the last few times I have locked the doors with the fob, the horn doesn't beep anymore, but the light still flash twice when I lock the doors. The horn itself works fine. When I un-lock the doors with the fob, the lights don't flash at all like they used to, but the doors un-lock just fine.

I am just curious if anyone has had this happen? I highly doubt it is something to worry about, just curious.

Thanks

From the Owner's Manual:

Silencing the horn beep feature

If desired, the horn beep feature can be deactivated using the keyfob.

To deactivate: Press and hold the (lock) and (unlock) buttons for at least 2 seconds. The hazard warning lights will flash three times to confirm that the horn beep feature has been deactivated.

To activate: Press and hold the (lock) and (unlock) buttons for at least 2 seconds once more. The hazard warning lights will flash once and the horn will sound once to confirm that the horn beep feature has been reactivated.

Deactivating the horn beep feature does not silence the horn if the alarm is triggered.

Wow I didn't know I could do this. Now I can go deactivate the beep.

I did mine the first day I had it. Can't stand making the horn honk just to lock the doors!

every time I go for servicing I have to re-unset it . . . a bit of an inconvenience but I hate the beep

That's why I love the iKey. I can't remember the last time I actually used the FOB to lock/unlock the doors.

I wonder if they do something different in Canadian servicing. I've never had to change mine since I silenced it the first day, and I've had a few regular service visits.
