Okay, so I had that issue with the unresponsive gas pedal a few days ago. I don't know if this is related, but here's what happened:

I drove from Portland to Vancouver, BC on Thursday with no problems. My car was parked for Friday and Saturday. A few minutes after leaving to come back to Portland this morning, I noticed that my dash ABS and BRAKE lights were both on. A couple minutes later, my speedometer stopped working. After driving like that for about 15 miles, I pressed the cruise control button, which somehow caused the ABS and BRAKE lights to go off and the speedometer to start working again. But now the "SET" like for the cruise control was blinking and cruise control didn't work. An hour or so later, I tried cruise control again and it worked. For the rest of the 7 hour drive everything was fine.

I'm going to call the dealership tomorrow for an appointment but in the meantime, has anyone experienced anything like this?

yep, that has happened to me too. The red brake light came on, the ABS stopped working, and so did the speedometer (didnt try cruise)

It was on a miserable snowy cold night and happened when I was breaking. It started working again about 20 minutes or so. I wanted to take it into the local dealership but they couldnt get me an appointment at a time I could do for another week, and wouldn't give me a donor car so it didnt end up happening. It hasn't happened again since then though.

I think it was probably some freak/rare glitch. Let me know what they say when you take it to the dealership though.

Sounds like a wiring harness has a problem.

Could this be related to the faulty BCM people are talking about? Just a thought....

Could be. A lot of those systems are controlled by the BCM.

Does anyone know if the cars manufactured after that Nov change over have the new BCMs installed? I know my car was one of the first made during that period and I haven't experienced any problems with the TPMS or any BCM related problems.

According to the TPMS bulletin, Nissan changed BCM's on or around July 17, 2006.

Also according to Nissan, not all BCM's prior to that date were affected. Mine supposedly wasn't, which was BS because of all the TPMS problems I had.

My guess is they're going to start having new weird problems with the BCM's. If they haven't already designed a new one, it's likely that there will be enough cars with faulty BCM's to warrant a recall when they finally figure it out. If my guess is correct.

Took my car into the dealer today and, surprise surprise: "Nothing's wrong"! You gotta love the fact that even when your cruise control, speedometer and dash lights all malfunction at the same time, they still can't figure out what's wrong with your car.

Dealers make me wonder. When my ASCD switch went wonky, causing the clutch to slip badly, they took it for a "Test drive" and said they couldn't find anything wrong. I didn't let it slide, I told them I would drive the car and their tech would sit in the seat and I would SHOW them what it was. Sure enough, when I did that, they went "oh, yeah, THAT".

The problem with this is that all those symptoms went away after twenty or so minutes of driving. So even though my car did something that it definitely should not have done, there's not way of showing them what it was.

Do you know if the BCM controls the A/C and/or the wipers?

Since having my BCM replaced three weeks ago, the A/C doesn't work (the light for the A/C isnt' even on and doesn't work, but when I have it turned off it lights up!!) and the rear wiper blades don't work. I dunno if this was a problem right after the BCM was replaced but I only just noticed them b/c it was raining today and two weekends ago was hot in L.A.

I think i'd rather trade the TPMS problem for what I have now. Who knows what else is wrong with my car now. *sigh*

HEYYY VERSAGIRL07 Pasadena ehhh we are right next to eachother . . . haha coo, but to answer your quesion, the BCM controls the combination switch and other components. Here is what it controls.

BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE)

Revision: June 2006 2007 Versa BCM is activated with low current consumption mode. CAN communication is not active. When CAN communication operation is detected, it switches to CAN communication status. When a state of the following switches changes, it switches to CAN communication state:– Ignition switch– Key switch (without Intelligent Key)– Key switch and ignition knob switch (with Intelligent Key)– Hazard switch– Door lock/unlock switch– Front door switch (LH, RH)– Rear door switch (LH, RH)– Back door lock assembly– Combination switch (passing, lighting switch 1st position, front fog lamp)– Keyfob (lock/unlock signal)– Front door key cylinder switch LH When control performed only by BCM is required by switch, it shifts to CAN communication inactivemode. Status of combination switch reading function is changed.

SYSTEMS CONTROLLED BY BCM DIRECTLY Power door lock system. Refer to BL-23, "POWER DOOR LOCK SYSTEM" . Remote keyless entry system. Refer to BL-54, "REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM" . Power window system. Refer to GW-17, "POWER WINDOW SYSTEM" . NOTE Room lamp timer. Refer to LT-91, "INTERIOR ROOM LAMP" . Rear wiper and washer system. Refer to WW-30, "REAR WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM" .NOTE:Power supply only. No system control.

SYSTEMS CONTROLLED BY BCM AND IPDM E/R Panic system. Refer to BL-54, "REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM" . Vehicle security (theft warning) system. Refer to BL-193, "VEHICLE SECURITY (THEFT WARNING)SYSTEM" . NVIS(NATS) system. Refer to BL-212, "NATS (Nissan Anti-Theft System)" . Headlamp, tail lamp and battery saver control systems. Refer to LT-75, "PARKING, LICENSE PLATE ANDTAIL LAMPS" , LT-5, "HEADLAMP (FOR USA)" or LT-27, "HEADLAMP (FOR CANADA) - DAYTIMELIGHT SYSTEM -" . Front fog lamp. Refer to LT-41, "FRONT FOG LAMP" . Front wiper and washer system. Refer to WW-4, "FRONT WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM" . Rear window defogger system. Refer to GW-50, "REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER" .

SYSTEMS CONTROLLED BY BCM AND COMBINATION METER Warning chime. Refer to DI-47, "WARNING CHIME" . Turn signal and hazard warning lamps. Refer to LT-51, "TURN SIGNAL AND HAZARD WARNINGLAMPS" .

SYSTEMS CONTROLLED BY BCM AND INTELLIGENT KEY UNIT Intelligent Key system. Refer to BL-80, "INTELLIGENT KEY SYSTEM" .

The only thing I could suggest is Check 40A fusible link (letter g , located in the fuse and fusible link box). OR Check 10A fuses [No. 6, 8 and 20, located in the fuse block (J/B)].

Hope that helps.

ah yes, pasadena. i just moved there. it's a great area. anyway, thanks for the info. i guess i could have just look at my owner's manual. ha! i'll be taking my car in for the 8 time (for various problems) this weekend. i'm ready to trade it in once i get the "kinks" taken care of. the versa has been a fun ride but i would prefer a boring reliable car over one that's always in the shop.

Hi versagirl07 - did you ever find out what caused this issue? I'm having the same issue on a 2008 Versa. Thanks.
