I'm leaning towards external WG, but i am still considering the internal because its already there, easy custom dp. =) (plus RB's seem to run internal wg's just fine)I will be running on stock internals and not looking to go over 10psi with a conservative tune. So here are my questions and Photos.Btw, my turbo's specs: Exhaust AR.48, Compressor AR.60, 54Trim. currently internally WG'd.The guy I bought it from is from Tx. He had it on his Spec-V for about 50 miles, kept up with an M3. (see link below for video). Thanks to all ahead of time.

My Q's1.Can anyone guess what kind of power I will be making at 10psi? will it have a lot of lag? how will top end be?2.Does boost spike occur often with internal wg?3.Is this the flange I need for an Ex. WG? the hole is not 3", more like 2.5"http://www.atpturbo.com/Mercha...e=FLS (See photo A for comparison)4.Is the flange I need for internal WG?http://www.atpturbo.com/Mercha...e=FLS (See photo A for comparison)5. Do I need a gasket between the internal WG and turbo? or between the turbo and ext. wg flange?6.Is this the three bolt flange I need at the other end of my custon dp?http://www.atpturbo.com/Mercha...e=FLS7. (See photo B) Does oil in the exhaust fin mean it needs a rebuild? or is that normal?

the flange should work if you dont want an internal wastegate. i think you should be fine on an internal wastegate at 10 psi of boost but its really a preference b/c its cheaper now since you dont have to fork out the money for the wastegate and so ofrth but if you change your mind in the future and go internal now you will need to buy a new manifold (you dont need to make a new d/p though b/c you can just disconnect the internal one)

Also,

Why do we see oil on the exhaust turbine? it looks kinda fresh was it there when he gave you the turbo?

it is a straight t3 flange it was actually never used i decided to go with a manifold that had an external wastegate due to the fact that i know i will never be happy with my boost being below 12 psi. i will hold till friday how ever please email me.

and so this is not a total thread jack, you should consider seriously if you are ever going to want to jack the boost up. it is always safer to over build.

and as for the three bolt flange of the internal w/g if the id of your flange matches the id of the flange you looking to buy it will work.

The oil was there when I got the turbo shipped to me. Its been sitting in the box with the external wastegate down like pix D-F.OK. I'm setting my goals low for now. I'm sure I'll be happy with a running ka-t even if it is low boost. Now if I do go internal wg, do i need two gaskets? One between the turbo and internal gate and another between the gate and the 3bolt flange?

im not sure. i have never seen gaskets for them but i guess liquid gasket would never hurt anything just to be on the safe side. let me double check with mm internal w/g (its still on my turbo till i get my new d/p from jgs

So liquid gasket that comes in the tube can be used instead of the conventional stamped out metal gaskets?
