1985 720 z24.

engine has been well taken care of.

143,xxx

under hard accelleration i get that head ache giving gas smell. i have the haynes manual, and checked as many things as it told me to check. and as we speak i have my brother, (mechanic) going over it.

i had the same year toyota, with the same problem, and it turned out to be a vacuum fuel diafram. but i dont see anything like that with this engine.

any help or comments are appreciated.

thanks.

i can't really help ya too much on this cause mine smells god awful... i have no emissions equipment whatsoever and the people behind me can't be happy because just idling at lights its noxious enough for me to worry about my health... once i get going i'm sure the people behind me get some big doses of it

but... i'd say it has to be a fuel component of some sort... whether its in the lines or the emissions controls... its gota be there

any visible signs around the carb. A lot of time its the float chamber leaking or your setting is too rich. hows your fuel consumption?

fuel is in normal range. and no signs of leaking or anything else around the carb. i checked all the evap and vacuum hoses with no sign of gas smell. oh well guess i gotta just cover up the holes in the floor, so the smell stays out of the cab! thanks.

You moght need a new fuel air mixture silenoid. They are pricey, about $150 new.
