Post

On April 7th 2014 I purchased a used WRX from Maxwell Subaru Volvo of Burlington North Carolina. I am by no means a rough driver, especially with a car I just purchased so I need to get that out of the way first. I brought my 09 Subaru WRX into Maxwell Subaru Volvo of Burlington North Carolina on the 12th of April for a noise issue while going over bumps. Maxwell Subaru Volvo of Burlington North Carolina explained that the sway bar was installed upside down and that they would fix it for free. I thanked them and continued on my way. Over the next two weeks I continued to hear a slight noise and thought nothing of it because I was ordering whiteline sway bars anyways. Fast forward to Saturday May 3rd and the noise was much worse. Everytime I shifted or the momentum changed I could hear what I thought was axle play. Yesterday, May 7th I had to drive a considerable amount and the noise was terrible. I called Maxwell Subaru Volvo on my way back into town and scheduled an appointment for the afternoon. I arrived at Maxwell Subaru Volvo of Burlington North Carolina and took their lead mechanic for a ride and he heard the noise. Maxwell Subaru Volvo of Burlington North Carolina put my vehicle on the lift and me being the car guy I am wandered back there. They said they do not usually let people back there but I explained to them that I worked for Nissan for 9 years and politely informed him that if I had my own lift they would never have business from me. So I stayed. The car was in the air at Maxwell Subaru Volvo of Burlington North Carolina and the transmission sounded like rocks were in it. I discussed with the manager on duty and he informed me that he would have to talk to the owner of Maxwell Subaru Volvo of Burlington North Carolina because the repair would be over 500 dollars. I am supposed to be informed today of what action they are taking, but it sounded like they were going to try and bojangle their way out of fixing it. Hence I am preemptively making this post and will keep it updated to ensure that Maxwell Subaru Volvo of Burlington North Carolina takes the correct action. Thank you.

I assume it had at least a 30 day drivetrain warranty. (I think the state of KS mandates a 60 day minimum). This would be very hard for them to get out of. I hope they treat you well.

Yeah they do but they are trying to bojangle around because I brought in on the last day, when I previously brought it in for a noise issue and they brushed me off with the "upside down swaybar"

Last I checked, an X day warranty is good for X days, not X-1 days. Good luck with everything.

No I brought it in within the time frame and they were not trying to talk about it and I am afraid they are trying to shoo me off until it is way too far past. I made the manager on duty sign that I had brought the car in TWICE for the same noise issue before my warranty was out.

Hope it all works out well for you Nicodomeus (loved that movie as a kid :))
Maybe since you told them you worked at Nissan for 9 years they will realize you know how they will try to screw you and think better of it.

They'll fix it.

It might take a while to overnight a couple of SR20s in from Japan this close to race wars, but they'll fix it!

That being said, they're a dealership after all, so it will probably get half-assed.

Except that, unfortunately, Dealership math is often a lot like Bistromathics. The numbers don't do what they're supposed to do.
