I have a '97 240 with an automatic transmission. Last night, I started the car as usual, no problems. I put my foot on the brake, and it wont change gears. It's stuck in park. I checked the brake lights, the first and second relays on the brake pedal, and it's still stuck. Anyone have any ideas? I need to be able to drive!

so will the shifter actually shift or does it shift and the car doesn't go into gear?

It won't shift at all, it acts like my foot isn't on the brake, even though it is.The codes my ECU read are slow 6slow 2fast 3slow 1fast 15

i dunno squat about those codes though...

if you have access to an OBD II scanner, that would be better than twiddling w/ the ecu

did it blink them out in that order? normaly it flashes the first digit pauses then flashes the second...not like 15 flashes for 15...check that FAQ he posted and let us know what codes they are.

It blinked 6 slow, paused, 2 slow, paused, 3 fast, paused, 1 slow, paused, 15 fast. The only code: 115 is actually posted there. There is no 6 or 23... I don't know what's wrong.

82 is a crank angle sensor...The transmission might use that to gauge speed in determining shift points ect...although it sems like it would still go into drive to me. Is it possible that you just though there was a pause? it usualy alternates between fast and slow blinks for each digit and there are no single digit codes...

It's possible, but I doule checked a couple times. 82.. sounds a lot more reasonable though. I'll check everything tomorrow. The FSM actually diagnoses a couple problems for it not coming out of park, so I'll check all that out tomorrow too. Thanks for your help
