I'm new here membership wise, but i have poked around a few times in the past years. But now after years of off and on searching, I have finally bought me a s13. Picked it for $700 a few weeks ago. The plan is to make a touge/grip beast.

This is what I saw when me a Brandon (Brandon1605) and this is what i saw.

The owner said that he had a tire go down going down the freeway. He was in the left lane, hit the center wall, then went back across 4 lanes of traffic. hitting the wall was the only damage.

That damage to the strut tower did worry me, and I thought about it for a week. Decided in still couldn't pass up this. $700 for a s13 with black interior, 5 speed, and a strong KA24DE with a injen ram air and a full exhaust. If all else fails, I could swap the guts into another shell.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last Sat. (3-6-10), I went back down to another friends house where we parked it to work on it.

We pulled apart the driver side suspension to see what had to be done. The suspension was actually not visibly bent anywhere, though something was bent on the door that was not allowing it to close properly.

Pulled apart the wiring harness and started repairs. none of the wires where cut, just some had some of the plastic rubbed off.

We also took the strut tower cap and cleaned it up a bit and did a little bending on the cap and the tower. Test fitting...

The cap has been bent, though we think we can fix it close enough to make up any mis-alignment on an alignment rack. We are going to spot weld and work the s*** out of it to get it back in and try to beat it back into shape, then see if it can be re-aligned. If not, we know of a few donors at a local junkyard if we need to.

yes, that is a chicken. the guy who owned it has a bunch of chickens and horses. he was kinda on the "could be gay/brokeback mountain" style..... kinda creepy, but luckily didnt know jack about cars.... and he loves his "cocks".

did some work today getting ready to pull the single slammer from the new chassis. i didnt realize how much of a pain getting off the front fenders, bumpers, and under paneling was. got the wiring harness un-done from the engine, but still so much to go. i have better pics but cant be bothered to upload them from my camera. gonna start really tearing in to it Saturday.

Great start. Is your user name referring to the song by "the casualties"?

no. but i haven't heard that one before. i do get alot of "is your name after that breaking benjamin song?" but no, just a name i thought of years back for a xbox gamertag.

Thats right. now i remember. that was a while back.

the white one has 170k where as the red one is at 230k. im currently driving the red one, but the chassis is f***. gonna do the swap over as soon as i can afford it.

and upon brandons request, updating with some photos

time to get to work
Image
brandon thinking about how said work shall be done
Image
and the night ended with the engine still in the car. fail
Image
the next day, we finally figured out just how to get it out. there was a bolt we didnt see mounting the exhaust on the transmission.
goodbye single slammer and autofail
Image
new parts
Image
Image
Image

washing the red one just because it needed it (and was not taking pics of the fenderless side....
Image
Image

and swapped out the red lights the car came with to UV/purple leds. turns out they are way too dim. gonna leave them till i swap everything in to the new car. debating between green or amber

yep. i drifting is way to expensive. any i also dont want to decrease the number of "not f*** up" 240s. and i lived in the mountains for about half a year, so i caught the grip bug.
