my timing might be alittle off?

when ever I step on the gas at a dead stop my car tends to mis fire. I looked at every thing, spark plugs, s.p.-wires, cap and roder; every thing checks out ok. I have a timing light, but I don't know the step to take in order to get the timing straight. How many degrease btdc. should the ka24e be firing at under regular conditions? thanks for your time
