i have a 93 300 zx an getting on the freeway the other day it jumped time.i bought a new timing belt and tore it down
and found that a few teeth on the belt were gone.i lined up the timing marks and pulled the belt. i set the new belt an what i thought was top dead center.but when i put it back together it wouldnt fire.is there any way to find top dead center besides plugging the number one hole and finding the compression stroke.is there a way to9 tell if your crank is in the right place when the other marks are in position?. can anyone give me any advice?

there is a mark on the crank gear that aligns wiht a notch in the oil pump case, it's hard to tell if it's lined up right when it's in the car. The OE belt has dots on the belt at all the alignment locations so it's easy to verify it's on correct. Just take your time and use the OE belt and you'll get it

also this belongs in z32 so I'm moving it
