... now I have to decide if I want it right away ... or wait for the dual-motor, AWD, version at the end of this year.

Hmmm ... think I will go look at one at the Tesla store at lunch today.

What's the benefit of the dual motor AWD version besides traction in poor conditions? Are they way faster? Cost a lot more?

Supposedly they'll be quicker but also have potential for longer range since they can vary between the higher power rear motor or the lower power front motor.

Does the dual motor have the "extreme insane crazy ballin" mode?

From what I understand, "yes" to all three questions. :)

Although the RWD I am looking at for a June delivery can do 0-60 in 5.1 seconds (tested by Motor Trend at 4.8) - that ain't bad at all.

I think so. The one I can get in June will do 310 miles on a charge... supposedly that could go to 350 miles on the dual-motor version.

Apparently, it will have some form of the "Ludicrous" mode from the current Model S in the P100D form.

I'd be fine with the current 4.8 second 0-60 test that Motor Trend did. :yesnod It apparently handles well.

Only issue is manufacturing quality sucks compared to other manufacturers. TOo much rework too.

If mine (assuming I get one) has issues, I plan to get my CEO, and one of my company board members, to help! They were early investors in Tesla - both of them know Elon Musk personally.

Check out autoline's teardown of the Model 3.

Impressive electronics, garbage everything else.
