Last week I upgraded (almost) my entire suspension. I figured that, at 87,000 miles, it was time for an update. Took my car to Steven Infiniti and ordered my parts from Infiniti of Scottsdale. Here's what I had done:

-Replaced left and right front tension rods-Replaced left and right front tension rod bushings-Replaced all four shocks with Tokico blues-Replaced all four shock dust boots-Replaced all four shock bushings-Replaced bump stop rubber-Replaced rear spring seat rubber-Replaced front stabilizer bushings-Replaced front strut mounts-Replcaed front spring seat rubber-Replaced front and rear bumper assembly rubber

And....

I had an active rear sway bar added and all the rear bushings replaced.

So, since I had my upper links replaced a month ago, I figure that after new springs and a FSTB, my suspension is complete (for a couple of years anyway).

Nice shopping list, 87k miles?!?!?!?

I'm jealous.

So how does it drive?

Drives like a dream. MUCH tighter than before and I glide over bumps now instead of hearing a squeak.

Nick

P.S. The suspension may have had 87k on it before, but the engine hasn't even hit 40,000 miles.

Sounds like what I did to Q2 in the garage on jack stands over the course of a month or two... I heard a couple of noises and decided not to hunt it down peice by peice. Replaced everything on your list and then did exhaust and transmission mount, rack boots, rack bushings, etc...

You did the right thing - it's nice not to worry about any of it for several years!

Way to go, Nick.

I did the same, on the silver Q, and am in the process, on the black Q.

It does make a world of difference.

How are rack bushings and tie rod ends [inner and outer].

What are your alignment numbers after the rehabilitation, surprised more don't shim the upper link rear mount between shock tower metal and bolts ........~~1/8" per degree of camber to correct for shock tower bending.

Getting the camber perfect -0.75 degrees both sides with your weight in drivers seat will pay great dividends in tire life and make the car handle the same turning left and right. Common problem also setting the front and rear sway bar preload with your weight in seat has a dramatic effect as a 135 pound driver will drop the left side of body by 1/2" stressing sway bar bushings by 0.125"..........one side of bushings will be 1/8" compressed more..........actually 1/16 up and 1/16" down on different sides changing the rear stiffness by 6-10 x 3.5 pounds between left and right max turns.

The front is worse because only 2 bushings per side and of course the front bar is 3-4 times stiffer at full coupling.

Those of us that are getting close to 200 pounds body weight see a significantly more difference.

Attention to fine details is how you make a old Q out handle a new one with sloppy adjustments.

Tie rod ends were replaced on 11/03. Rack bushings replaced on 06/04.

Also, not to hijack, but dennis... Are the rear "upper links" a cause of rear camber problems, and replaceable.... Also, is there a bushing thta you can press out or do you have to replace the entire assy...?
