No, but it is maintenance. Rails never cleaned or lubricated will fail sooner. Depends how much it is left open and in what environment.grip1968 wrote:.... so its not the age of the car
Who actually does this mantenance? Who? I don't know anyone who takes apart the sunroof to lubricate rails.maxnix wrote:No, but it is maintenance. Rails never cleaned or lubricated will fail sooner. Depends how much it is left open and in what environment.
Hmmm...I wonder if that would solve the slight issue that I have. I'll try doing that this weekend. Like I stated earlier, I really don't use the sunroof anyway. It's too darn hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!elwesso wrote:you dont have to take apart the sunroof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just put the sunroof all the way back, and throw a tiny bit of grease in the rails.. Thats all it needs!
Exactly, the rails are exposed when the sun/moonroof is open.elwesso wrote:you dont have to take apart the sunroof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your motor works, you can try tightening the clutch (for which I presume these motors have an adjustment). If rails are bad or cables streteched, there are a couple of write-ups in the posts.Mopar wrote:Any more info on this? My sunroof failed yesterday. I am currently trying to close it up which is a PITA. How can I get this fixed?. Do I need a new sunroof or what?
