my SR trans will go 3" from the motor help!!

i'm right in the middle of my swap and the motor is in and tilted up for the trans and the trans will go almost on but stops like 3 inches from the motor does anyone know what i should try?i've shook it for a while then took it out to check if any thing was in the hole and lined up the clutch in the center 3 times!!please help me guys i cant wait to drive this car its killin me.

Sounds like its not splining with the clutch disc.... Put a socket and big rachet on the crank pulley(spinning the normal way the motor rotates) as you try to push the transmission in. This has worked for my quite well in splining the trans to the clutch. Make sure the the engine and trans are at the same angle as well, being off even the slightest bit will make it a biatch to get on.

yeah spinning it is perfect. that way while pushing it will mesh together.

and a word of advice on the next transmission swap (if you dont have access to a lift). you are better off removing the whole motorset. a lot of guys here swear by it simply because of the ease compared to removing the transmission by itself.

From the pics, it looks like the one side of the transmission is farther in than the other side. It's a huge pain trying to get everything to line up, especially because it has to be just right. Keep wiggling and rotating, as mentioned, and eventually it will go in. You can rotate the input shaft on the transmission every now and then also.
