My S14 SR has been feeling very sluggish lately.

This all started after changing out all my exhaust gaskets. I pulled the turbo and changed the head>manifold gasket, mani>turbo gasket, turbo>elbow, elbow>downpipe, DP>testpipe.

I also put a Blitz SS air filter on.

One problem I had was that one of the coolant lines at the block drips a little coolant, but I bought S lines to replace to replace them. I just need to throw them on.

The car feels much slower now. It just doesn't have the response it had before.

I can't even check codes since I can't read the codes off the ECU.

I had a leakdown done a while ago and it came out really well,. and I never raised the boost or drive it very hard.

What are some things to check? Timing, boost pressure, clean MAF...?

had a very similar problem recently, traced it to a boost leak, and a small vacuum leak.

Still had one even though i coulda sworn i didn't.

This sounds might sound stupid, but it could just be you've gotten too used to the current power you have. I went from 10 psi to 14 psi a few months ago. My car's still running fine, but the extra power doesn't give me the same feeling that I had a few months ago. If you want to be sure, just check all your hoses and make sure everything's tighten down though.

I see what you mean, but I can feel that there is a difference. I used to be able to spin 2nd from a roll, and now I can barely break traction in 2nd.

Also, I was making some WOT runs in 4th tonight and I noticed that the stock BOV sounded like it was continously blowing off, as in "SHHHHHH" for the entire time the throttle was planted to the floor. I think it may be leaking.

I also smelled oil burning off. Not sure if it's one of the seals in the turbo, or the rings. I had a leakdown test done and it came out really good. S14 SR also doesn't have a factory catch-can.

When I reinstalled my intercooler piping, I double and triple checked that everything was tightened down. The piping is a bot ghetto-rigged, so when I upgrade to a different intercooler, I'll be able to start fresh I suppose.

Rough idle is the sign if a vacuum leak? If so, I have one somewhere, but I have no clue...

rough idle is definatly a sign of vaccum leaks. I had a leak on my s13 and my car almost stalled when stop at lights. Traced it to a leak from a bad plumbing of my stock recirc valve. Repaired it, and car is healthy now. And runs good, without puffs of black smoke @ wot.

build yourself a boost leak tester, it's been my friend since a built one.

Search the net, they are cheap and easy to make, and saves a lot of hassle!
