my sr developed a noise today :( video inside

i was just driving today around town and i heard a little noise at a certain rpm ( prob around 1500 - 2000) so i figured it was just something vibrating inside the car til I got home and popped the hood and listened and i could here it was right there in the engine.

I don't have experience diagnosing rod knocks or head noises. I can tell you that I did remove the upper chain guide already so that's not the noise.

It seems like it comes at a certain rpm and goes away at a certain rpm and to me sounds like it's in the head, but what do i know..

i pulled off the valve cover and dont see anything noticably broken or worn. all cam lobes, rockers, springs, etc look intact.

Only other hing I could think of in the head is a lifter went bad, but i can't see them unless i take the cams out which isn't a problem, but i don't know how to tell if one is bad or not.

did your timing chain seem out of tension? when my tensioner went bad, thats what mine sounded like...new tensioner, no prollem...

/\ could be that, and I'm not sure if you did this already but look closely and see if all of your valve shims are there. Rarely, but sometimes one will jump off.

yup, checked all shims and they're all there. I only felt for tension between the cam gears on the top and it had good tension i'll check on the sides later

I was going to say it sounds like rod or wrist pin knock
