I got lucky with my head all the lifters were perfect so I just reused all the lifters, guides and shims...Solow240sx wrote:Looks good man, are u running HLA'S or SLA'S?? Also how did u go about shimming them?? Check out my build thread sometime!!
For the O-rings I have a bunch of O-ring so I just found the right sizes and put them in there...Solow240sx wrote:Also did u get new o-rings for the stock oil filter sandwich plate?? And if so where did u get them?? I am in need of some!!!! I got a full gasket kit but i didn't get them in it...
Mostly ya... but at this point I'm kicking myself for not going RB haha!Solow240sx wrote:Looks really good man! Is that a 35r i see??? I will probably be running a twinscroll 35r, what will this car be used for drag??
port/polish, tanked, honed (bored?), decked, balanced, mic'd ..head and block....all for 650????X-MAN510 wrote:hey thanks guys, I think I paid something like 650 for everything including having everything balanced...
I'm using the stock pistons... I have another block I'm building that is costing me a lot of money, I want to go .30 over with dartons sleeves, stroked.gixxerbob wrote:

what pistons are you using?
Thanks bro, if I were you I would buy another block and maybe crank and start building another motor on the side and throw your head on top of the block. That way you don't have much down time, all you would need to do is buy some retainers, springs, cams and if your going to get head work done you could have all that done in a couple of weeks and then you would be able to put your motor together and in the car in a couple of days. If you start now you should have all the parts you need by summer... It's all the little stuff that takes some time, like waiting for parts to come in and stuff that always goes wrong...snake240 wrote: Looking awesome man! Im hoping to rebuild mine this summer.
Nothing really. You'll have to reshim the head but that's about it. To take full advantage of having solid lifters you'll want upgraded valve springs, retainers, and some extremely lumpy cams to make it worth your while. Build looks great BTW!Touge’ wrote:What is everything you needed to run solid lifters?
Hey thanks man, but I'm not running solid lifters... but thanks for the info I will keep that in mind if i ever do decide to run solid liftersredtop91 wrote:

but the ringlands on the stock pistons are the weak point and why a stock bottom end can only be pushed to 400hp. with a gt30/35 topmount, and 272 cams, all this machine work, port/polish, and all the thousands of dollars put into this build that is capable of +600hp why would you use oem pistons (and bother to have an oem rotating assy balanced) which are going to be the obvious weak point. i realize that you are having another block built, but still??X-MAN510 wrote:I'm using the stock pistons...
