So in seeing all the SR builds I thought I'd share my build...

Freshly honed, decked, tanked and painted block. The head was also decked tanked, painted and P&P'd.

I had the stock rotating assy. fully balanced with aftermarket performance bearings, lightened crank pulley and custom 10lb flywheel. And of course outfitted with ARP headstuds.

And now the head, pan, and front cover are on. I used the cosworth HG, HKS 272/272 cams with HKS springs. And I went ahead and replaced the front cover and upgraded the timing chain and guides. And I also ordered a HKS exhaust cam gear but I don't have a picture with it on...

The Sexy @$$ PeakBoost Manifold I picked up!

So sexy that I just put it on top of my TV. I also have the Greddy intake plenum to make a killer combo.

And some more eye candy

I will have more pictures later...

Nice!!!!! But I couldn't leave the room knowing that that manifold might fall off that TV. It'd be like sitting your newborn up there...please take that down. Maybe I'm just paranoid because I have bad luck. Keep the updates coming!

I got lucky with my head all the lifters were perfect so I just reused all the lifters, guides and shims...

For the O-rings I have a bunch of O-ring so I just found the right sizes and put them in there...

I am also running the stock lifters, guides, shims but i did install jimwolf valve guides, all my stock shims & guides were 3mm. But i would just like to check them and make sure they are perfect.

As for the o rings i was thinkin about just getting some that were the right size too... I am going to call the dealer today...

Wow that looks awesome. I wish I could get my block and head honed, decked, tanked, etc... How much did it cost you? I can't even find any places around me that do it.

I'm using the stock pistons... I have another block I'm building that is costing me a lot of money, I want to go .30 over with dartons sleeves, stroked.

Thanks bro, if I were you I would buy another block and maybe crank and start building another motor on the side and throw your head on top of the block. That way you don't have much down time, all you would need to do is buy some retainers, springs, cams and if your going to get head work done you could have all that done in a couple of weeks and then you would be able to put your motor together and in the car in a couple of days. If you start now you should have all the parts you need by summer... It's all the little stuff that takes some time, like waiting for parts to come in and stuff that always goes wrong...

i was leaning towards doing it that way. but i may buy another truck and just rebuild the one i got. it all depends on how work goes. thanks for the advice though. and good luck with it.

Nothing really. You'll have to reshim the head but that's about it. To take full advantage of having solid lifters you'll want upgraded valve springs, retainers, and some extremely lumpy cams to make it worth your while. Build looks great BTW!

but the ringlands on the stock pistons are the weak point and why a stock bottom end can only be pushed to 400hp. with a gt30/35 topmount, and 272 cams, all this machine work, port/polish, and all the thousands of dollars put into this build that is capable of +600hp why would you use oem pistons (and bother to have an oem rotating assy balanced) which are going to be the obvious weak point. i realize that you are having another block built, but still??
