The only other proven option to be 100% sure that you won't lose an engine to precat death is to gut the cat, which takes more work.
A header install is probably a 4. 2 for the actual install, the added 2 for the extra work involved (O2 sensor issues, check the Table of Contents for the Common Fixes thread for your options). The install itself is very easy, especially given that the header is right in the front of the engine bay.
On that scale, a 1 is changing your oil, a 10 is a DIY turbo setup or a basic engine swap. Obviously there are more difficult things than even that, but those would be extreme cases.
I've seen those seats on Ebay before.
