my spark plugs fouled out whats wrong?

I have 1990 nissan 240sx hatchback and i put a new timing chain and cover and well thats it. but my plugs keep fouling out whats wrong?. when you start it up

give it gas white smoke comes out and it run on about 2 cylinders. I took the

plugs out and clean put them back in turn on and back to the same thing HELP.

Was it fine before the timing chain job?

Was it running on 2 cylinders before?

Have you checked your ecu for codes?

I'm guessing the distributor had to go off while you did the chain... did you check your timing, etc?

yes its was fine before chain and cover was replaced that of my knowledge.

no it was running on all 4.

may sound stupid, but did you put the wires back on in the correct order? we have all had those *doh* moments before
