My smog question about my 1993 nissan nx...

Hello Im about to go smog my93'nx. but recently Ive found tht it is starting 5th gear pop-out.
My question then is when the put car on machine I remember them accellerating in accordance w/ the computers instruction and I want to know if they have to actually shift into 5th gear to complete the test?
Anyone please help.

They typically do all the gears, as far as i know. Just tell the guy he needs to hold it into 5th if they put it there.

If he's a d!ck, then he'll ask you to fix it , but I don't see that happening.
