Here is my project that I have been working on over the past few months. I built this motor back on Okinawa in 2003 and raced it in my R31. I sold it to Stony in 2004 when I transferred to Hawaii. He sent it to Alaska and used it in his 240Z and has owned it since. Last year, he decided to upgrade to a V8 configuration in his Z and asked if I wanted to buy my motor back. Thought long and hard about it and figured what the heck. He sold me the ATI 2 speed powerglide bell housing adapter place, flex plate, torque converter and a nice powerglide with the motor.

The motor in my R31 in Okinawa:

Stony made some nice changes and upgrades when he had it:

Motor and transmission arrive:

The R31 I am putting it in now:

First get rid of the old RB20:

Empty engine bay:

Need to open up the center of the bumper for the intercooler:

That's better:

Fits like a glove. Also notice I removed all the HICAS stuff in the engine bay and as much wiring as I could. Gonna tuck everything when it's all said and done.

Cut the firewall for the larger bell housing:

The stock rear trans mount was only an inch back from the mounts on the transmission. Made a bracket out of 1 inch plate steel.

Battery relocated to trunk. Going to replace with a nice sealed unit:

Easiest way to stiffen up the rear after removing all the HICAS lines is just welding up the actuators:

Swirl pot and aluminum radiator installed:

Mounted the fuel swirl pot and inline fuel pump in the trunk. -10 from pump to two -8s up the the fuel rail ends with a -8 return. Will be using E85 with 1600cc injectors:

Will be buying the Borg Warner 9174 EFR turbo and engine management will be handled by an AEM V2. I will update thread as I make progress on the build.

Man I wish I had the motivation, time, money, and shop to build things like this. Looks great!

That's a nice looking R31. Always liked the simple '80s look of the 31 and that color and wheel combo looks just right.

Absolutely LOVE this car. R30s and R31s are my favorite Skylines.

Dropped the gas tank, sanded and repainted to stop the rust. My Borg Warner EFR 9174 turbo arrived. I was pleased to find out it fit on an old school Trust T88 twin scroll manifold. Also got a nice Treadstone intercooler. Now just waiting on the RIPS intake manifold to come in.
