I am struggling over this car! I have the cash, right now, and would LOVE to have a second Q in waiting.

And this car is the exact twin of mine, just 12 months newer, and 90,000 miles less.

I might be telling you guys about my new Q45 in a few days.

Live the dream :D

Looks great! I would only do this the way I did when I bought "Q2" - no deposit, flew out to test drive it with certified check in hand - and then shipped it back.

yes having 2 Q45s is a great thing, unless the previous owners did not do much preventive maintenance

If the bid doesn't go crazy at the last minute, it will be a great car. I have the guy's number, and have communicated thru email. I will call him, later in the week, and get a feel for his integrity.

He is a wholesaler, and the car is from a lady in San Antonio.

Non-smoker, new tires, runs & drives great. shifts fine. everything electronic works, except the antenna does not retract (neither does mine). Clean Carfax, actual mileage.

If I am high bidder, I will fly out, and drive it home. If not, I will keep my eyes peeled.

No, I didn't need the heads. I think that was someone else.

The 94 seats are not as comfortable as the earlier models, or so I've heard. Mine are in great shape, except I think I broke a spring on the driver's right side bolster. I can feel a "pop" every once in a while.

If I do get it, I can "play" with my other one, when I retire it from daily servcie.

Let me be the loan bummer.

First, I'm ALWAYS afraid of ebay cars from TX or FL, there are too many of them that are too below "normal pricing". They have loopholes that allow for bad cars to have clean titles. If it was never fixed as per an insurance claim at a shop that reports, it would also never show up on CarFax.

Second, unless this lady from San Antonio was driving the Ladies Auxillary around, how did those back seats get so much wear. I don't know that I've ever seen a Q with worn leather on the back seats.

Third, LOW FEEDBACK, and I quote "Good sale/helped save shipping/sending check for description error/Good dealer". As Q451990 says, handle with No Deposit if you decide to proceed.

Voice of reason/Gloom and Doom signing off.

Sorry for bringing the party to a halt.

Rex, thanks.

I am a little shy about the low feedback, myself. That is why I plan to make the call later this week to the seller. So far, he has responded to every email, within 2 hours of my sending.

I was thinking about making a call to the Houston BBB, as well.

Pictures do tend to make some things look much better (paint), and others look much worse (interiors).

Keep up the "Doberman watchdog" posts. You will save someone (probably me) a lot of headaches.

The dealer informed me his/her minimum sell price is $5,999.00

I did not see a reserve on the auction.

It may get there, by Sunday, anyway.

Actually, this is a little more than I want to spend now. In 2 years, I will be looking for this exact car. AND my budget for the car will actually be higher than this.

I want to sink another $500 into my car, with struts and rotors/brakes.

I don't think the Mrs. would like me spending another $6,500 "Just to have another car in the driveway".

I already have 2 cars and 2 trucks at the house, and she is about ready to have one towed away (it is my sister's truck, with a blown engine I have been promising to rebuild). I ahve been waiting for that "sweet deal on eBay" for a rebuilt motor, or a good used low-mileage one, around $400.

I might could lump a Christmas trip to Houston, with a $4,500 spare car, though...

If he did not put a reserve on the auction, then the "minimum sell price" he wants is irrelevant. According to eBay rules (and also contract law), assuming the seller is willing to abide by them, if the final auction price is less than 5999, he must sell.

Of course, this is not enforceable easily, needs a lawsuit, and that takes time and money and being close (geographically) to the seller. Only worth it for large amounts.

I think anytime someone buys a Q , they need to have the VIN run for service records..... almost everyone gets work done at the dealer until the warranty runs out....so it gives you a good idea about the past....

I am especially pointing out the 30k and 60k services....if they were done at the dealer...it's a good indication that the car was taken care of.....of course many of us didn't spend the money at the dealer for those services, but the typical Q owner would have...

I got my 94 Q from Florida on EBay... it was 5815 with 82k miles on it.... I got the records from Infiniti.... it's not a perfect car, but darn close to it.... it came with nearly new tires and brakes as well.. I have done all the filter and fluid changes... the only disadvantage I see is the overall deterioration of hoses... I will have to do an under plenum job within the year..... the underneath of my 90Q looks much nicer than this one..... I think the salt air got to the plenum as well.....

It's amazing how similar the 90 and 94 look from 10 feet....but they are really very different cars---- from ride comfort, acceleration, interior changes.....

Great article.

It would be nice to know which states dealers use to "wash" the titles of salvaged cars.

Methinks CarFax is s scam. We pulled reports on three cars we knew the history on. Two of the three had MAJOR damage (99 Civic Si with 6k damage in 99, 11k damage in 03) it came back clean. The other car was similar but the damage wasn't as extensive.

Both jobs were performed an non-dealer body shops, but I thought it was the insurance company that reported that stuff.
