I believe he was refering to the transmission "turbo 350"= Automatic Chevrolet Transmission

And BTW You sooooo need the pistol grip shifter, it would be soo much more BA!!!!!

It was a 1500 dollar brand new race trans I had for another engine I was going to use. So I wanted to put it to good use, The 4L60e is the same as a 700R4 but the shift points are electronic. I'll see how long I get this one to last, but I may step up to a built 4L60e. The stock 4L60's need to be worked up a little. This TH350 is built for race and will do good at the track.

Turbo 350 is aka TH350 aka Turbo Hydromatic 350. Its just a trans type for GM cars

Manual and autos all have their place. This cars mostly show, weekens, ad gonna see some track time. And I wanna rip it up at the track, no time for shifting. This trans here slams gears, its has a stage 3 shift kit. It is a happy medium. I have a TCI powerglide, but on the street it would be horrible (2 speed) but best trans for the quarter excluding gragsters, top fuel, funnycars.

I've always thought of the TH350 and TH400 as good transmissions. I've never had a problem with them once they are built right. The 4L60e and 700R4 are good transmissions, but are a bit more expensive to acquire. And even more expensive to build up to withstand a beating.

The 350 and 400 are good for the money, and can take a thrashing. I dig the shifter, and choice of transmission. Good work!

Yeah, I was just thinking that having an OD gear would be nice for the street, as well as a locking TCC. As for the track, I'm sure you'll quickly make friends with that dog low first gear that the 700/4l60 share.

is it full ratchet?

ive always wanted a beast of a big block mated to a manual valve body auto trans.

just like a manual, but more reliable.

Yeah its a tricky thing. Complete with lock outs. But taps 1-3. To get out of drive you have to pull up and then push forward, then again to get reverse, then push down to get into park.

Origionally I was going to use a Small block 400 that I have. Its a 11.0:1 comp motor with forged internal Estimated 440-500 horse. About a 6500 engine, but the LS was a better choice for the conversion. I'm saving that for something else. I debated the 6 speed, but figured the auto was better for my needs. I have the suspension all done with a 1.5 way Cusco LSD, so with the 6 speed she could have been a drifter, but Its just not my thing. I get my kicks on the quarter on street night... thats where every kid in his civic hatch thinks it can smoke anything. I'm just gonna sit it there with the hood shut and see who wants to run that first race
