I tried to take my stock shift knob off from my 90 240, and it's so TIGHT... I did everything people did here, got a towel, plier, tried to unscrew it counterclockwise, didn't work!! I took all the tools out, broke the leather, vinyl, & plastic layer, now I can see the silver-metal part of the knob. I tried so hard to unscrew it, I was only able to turn it half of the circle!! Any idea what I have do, thanks in advance, KC,

Well, you could be as weak as grandma and still get it off. Just get a wrench with a REALLY long handle :D ...elementary mechanics

LMAO this is by far one of the funniest posts I've seen.

Best method...use a cloth and a pair of channel locks. Geez.... I did it in 2 sec. Don't tell me I have more muscles than you 'boys' do.

Same here. It's just that most people are afraid to break something. Once they know it will come off, they get medieval on it and it comes right off. (But yes, being a mechanic you may be stronger than a number of people on this board ;))

av8mech240sx is one tough 'girl'!!

But seriously, the though of needing to use tools, and leverage/mechanical advantage just to remove a damn shift knob..... it's foolish. Whay the hell did Nissan feel the need to stick the thing on there so well? When I removed mine I think I pulled muscles I didn't know I even had...

lol..... leverage is a nice thing to have. Helps you take off stuck shifter knobs or keep a guy inline ;)

I used the "anger" technique... when someone finnally gets u into a rage... go out with some channel locks and picture that person and it will come of in a snap... if it comes off with a snap ... your in trouble...
