Ok guys...i have dreamt of turboing my ka for the longest time and im finally getting it together. Here is a list of parts i have/ or will be buying in the next 3 months to get the beast together.

BRC 9.0:1 Forged PistonsNew Timing Chain Kit (better now then later)Cometic Head Gasket (What thickness?)Nismo Engine MountsStainless steel manifold - Have itWalbro 255 Fuel PumpSpec Stage 3 Clutch - Have itFidanza Flywheel - Have itFuel Pressure Reg.RC Engineering 52lb InjectorsBoost Designs Fuel RailMSD Boost Timing MasterApexi SAFC IIBoost Designs Rev Kit (Redline=8K) T3/To4e Turbo - Have itTurbo Xs BOV - Have itTial 38mm Wastegate - Have itZ32 MAF

Now... Should i go 8.5:1 pistons? This will be my daily driver...What about gasket thickness?

I have a local car guru making an intercooler for me for cheap....but i need to know about piping, downpipe. Do you s13 guys mount the intercooler in the reinforcement? I do not want to move my battery at all. And what do you guys do about cooling? Every setup i see, the stock fan is removed, is it safe to run without one?

Thanks for the help, and sorry for the long post but i need answers

If I were you I'd....

1. Get 72# Injectors2. Ditch the S-AFC II, Rev Kit, Boost Timing Master and get a Tuned ECU 3. You need a Z32 MAF4. I would Poly your Stock Mounts and save about $180.5. Cometic HG - ~1.2mm6. I would go with a 8.5:1 piston

Not only will you have an easier install but you will have a safer engine with more potential. Since pump gas is more than likely all it will see I would stick with a lower CR, it doesn't really affect spool up any to have a higher CR and you more than likely won't notice much of a difference in the lower RPM thanks to the KA's long stroke and manifold design.

"Poly your stock mounts" - Get some polyurethane from Home Depot and basically create a mold around the stock mount, fill in, alow them to sit. This only works if your mounts don't fall apart when you take the motor out.

How does the poly work? Just gel it all over the mount? I guess i could try that first.

I thought about the re-tuned ecu...but is it really the best way to go...i feel like i have no control over it. Who do you recommend and how exactly does it work?

Rev kit not really worth it?

What does the rev kit do? Eliminate the rev limiter? You don't want to be shifting at 8k rpm without some serious valvetrain and internal lightening.

..it sounds like a ricer gimmick to me..

You could always piggy back a S-AFC later if you are getting detonation, but a properly tuned ECU shouldn't have issues and is better than 4 systems having to work in coordination to make the motor run.

There is always the Greddy Emanage, which allows just about all that at your fingertips but you will need to tune it.

Pilled resistor possibly...

With the gear ratios he is running I would highly suggest NEVER running that. Under boost in the low gears once those tires start spinning you will nail the rev limiter hard a couple times, and the KA will **** itself at 8k.

It is basically an upgraded valvetrain to allow the engine to flow past 8K......but they say 8K redline to be safe. I was going to get this, then have the whole engine balanced....but i was still kinda iffy on it

So who do you recommend i get to tune the ecu? And do i tell them all the mods done.....lbs of boost im running....once i have it can i up the boost without problems?

8K is not safe on even a built KA-T ... the piston speeds are way too high.

Racing spec SR20DE engines run about 80 FPS at 8500 RPM using forged bottom ends and a better crank (OEM SR crank is superior in terms of RPM capacity).

The KA at 8000 RPMs runs 84 FPS!

F = m * v ^2

SR20DE Force = 0.736344 lbs. x 80^2 = 4712

KA24DE Force = 0.782641 lbs. x 84^2 = 5522

Thats a 15% difference in force... and that is by taking the gram weight of a FORGED KA piston. Nevermind the difference in rod weight!

Dunno, emailing him and asking would be a good start
