I want to get an amp pretty soon, right now I'm tryin to get some 4"x6" in front, and I already have some pretty good 6"x9" Rockfords in the back. The 6x9s game with the car, along with some 4" rockfords up front. They can handle quite a bit of power, even though they are a year or two old.

I'm debating on any of these three speakers, but I'm leaning towards the plates:1) http://www.audioblowouts.com/i...=54962) http://www.pioneerelectronics....onent3) http://www.infinitysystems.com...odId='KAPPA462.5CFP'&Ser=KAP&Cat=MEL

With this amp: http://www.audioblowouts.com/i...=5125

I'm probably going to be keeping my 6x9s for a while, seeing as how they work and are pretty nice. But if anybody can help with this or come up with a better solution, your help would be greatly appreciated.

please, do not get 4x6's unless you really can't afford to buy the adapter plates off of Underground... you'll be dissapointed with the sound that any 4x6's put out compared to a set of 6.5s in the same pricerange...

From what I can tell, the only 6.5"s that are much better than a 4x6" are components. And do I really need to have that tweeter around? The best 6.5"s are like 90W RMS. And the best 4x6"s are 60W RMS. That is like a 1/3 jump, but the only 90s are component systems, so do they include the tweeter's wattage too? Because the next best wattage was a drop to 75W RMS. And that's without components.

I'm not sure that power handling is the best way to measure the quality of a speaker. Sensitvity is certainly a better measure of a speaker.

As for 6.5s being a better choice the 4x6s, round speakers have more linear response, as well as a better response at the low end. Which is also what makes 6.5s better than 5.25s.

It's not, but I was giving an example. I could get the best quality 4x6"s for about $110, or I could get some pretty good 6.5"s that arent much better for about $200.

But BTW, I was wrong, I found some Image Dynamic 6.5"s that were 150 RMS. And a set of Rockfords that were 100 RMS. But those are Mid-Bass, not components.

Anybody had good experience with Image Dynamics?

Look at what I added to the last post while you were posting. Also, you might want to look to the US Acoustics 4085 or the Avionixx or Tsunami amps that are rated at around there. They are cheaper, and most would say just as good. The 4085 is rated at 12.4 volts so is definitely not underrated. All are between $180-$200.

Yeah, that US Acoustics amp isn't that great. It's not even meant for 4 channel. But there were two avionixx amps that could push out 110x4 @ 4 ohm, and another that was 125x4 @ 4 ohm that was only 5 bucks more.

ok you cannot tell me that a small OVAL cone will sound nearly as good as a decent sized ROUND one... only people who aren't serious about their audio or who don't give a **** how their system sounds will settle for a set of 4x6's... IMHO... i would never use 4x6 for my front soundstage, using them as rear fills is as far as i'd go... i mean if you can fit 6.5's in the door quite easily, i don't see why anyone wouldn't wanna switch over...how can you stand not having any midbass?

and who's to say that you can't find a decent set of coaxial 6.5"s for the same price as a "good" set of 4x6's?? 6.5's don't need to be components to sound better than 4x6's :rolleyes i find that pretty funny actually that you say that...

Yeah, I'm going to make my own adapter. What is better to use, plexiglass or MDF board?

And nobody has answered me. Anybody have something good to say about Image Dynamics? Lots of power for a good price.

Also, which wires do I keep, if any. I know you dont use the same circuit board plate, but do I keep the wires?

Ok good, so the IDs would be perfect for this setup right? Because your putting them in a more closed space. And I was thinking hmm... maybe they're cheap for a reason... But they work fine? Because they look great for the price.
