I am going turbo with my ka24e compression was solid at 165-170 all the way across. I have about 5k to drop on this. I am a BIG lurker and TRYING to learn all i can before asking any BIG QUESTIONS. so let me know if anything i have here is WRONG. my prices MAY be over shot a little, but thats to make sure I get what i need and dont get any BIG surprises along the way. my goal is a daily driven reliable car at 7-9 psi. looking for anything over 220hp.

JGS full kit with turbo and everything. 2,000.00 (will ask about turbonetics turbo, but the turbo they have seems admirable)
FMIC kit for sr20det. 2-300.00
mishimoto radiator. 300.00
550cc injectors.300.00
sr20det DP. 150.00
new spark plugs.150.00

the main thing I am stuck on is the engine management. I know JWT is highly regarded, but for god sakes it says it is 700 dollars for the NA version. I am not aware of how much more the turbo version costs, but my guess is a 200 dollar increase or so.

then we have enthalpy, they are more affordable and seem to be highly regarded as well. the website said it was 400 or so for the tune.

I expect all the aftermarket guages( water temp/oil temp/AFR/and boost.) should be doable for around 400 at most.

am i forgetting anything major? do i need an electronic boost controller? or can i go with a manual one?

this is the FIRST turbo car I will have ever had, so be gentle ka-t gods. be gentle.

Thought JWT was around 500-600, but haven't looked lately.

Enthalpy is a good option, believe they have some group buys going on for $300.

The JGS kit is fantastic and you've got a solid support system with the other stuff you mentioned. I'd go with Enthalpy over JWT. I have seen great results from both though.

Don't forget a 255lph in-tank fuel pump. Get one from summit racing.

I use the TurboXS dual stage manual controller, I've had it installed on 2 Skylines and my 240. Works awesome.

you may want to look into nistune, i bought mine for 450 shipped, and its fully tunable. you would need a shop to tune it right. but thats only a few hundred at most. then you could always go bigger. but the rest sounds solid. you also should be able to put together a full kit for far less than 5000. ill put one together for you and you pay me the diffference lol.

i likely wont need to go to another setup, so enthalpy is sounding pretty good right now. has anyone experienced any of the jgs turbo's first hand?

My friend had a turbo sohc with their turbo. Great kit for sure, and made good power. He had the turbo that was good for like 430hp or so.

JWT tunes are so safe timing and fuel wise its not even funny. You'll make way more power and use much less fuel at the same time with any other tune. Nistune or enthalpy are great options.

Why do you have spark plugs listed as $150??? All you need are slandered copper NGK's. Platnum/iriduim are a waste of money. Its better to have a cheap plug and replace it often.

as for suspension, I am thinking just loswering springs that are fairly stiff as well as some new shocks, maybe agx adjustables. what would be minimum as far as brakes are concerned? my rotors look great and pads have meat left, it brakes awesome with abs. maybe hawk pads?

It all depends on how fast your going and what situation. If it's just a street car, stock rotors with good pads - Hawk HPS for example - will be plenty. If you're tracking it a lot, you're going to want to look into upgrading to bigger brakes like Z32 (300ZX) fronts.

I have the JGS kit with the older Turbonetics turbo. I love the kit. I also have an Enthalpy tune and I've been very, very happy with both the tune and the customer service I've received from them.

If you're okay with the 8-pounds or so of the wastegate spring pre-installed on the JGS kit at first you won't need a boost controller at all. I'd still get one if you can afford it though.

And like wise, you won't *need* oil/water gauges, etc. A wideband is something you should get 100% though, but those are more money then the others. This is one thing I wouldn't skimp out on, it's really helped me out a lot.

Instead of gauges you might want to look into a Consult Cable. They can show you any stock sensor output and some other stuff, read your codes, etc. like water temp, timing, fuel injector duty cycle, which can prove really really helpful.

No, not exactly. It's a cable that connects to the OBD1 port of a 240SX, or virtually any Nissan actually, and allows the sensors to be read on a laptop or PC.
