First tank was 315 miles / 9.3 gal = 33.8 mpgSecond tank was 350 miles / 10.35 gal = 33.8 mpg. Exact Same

What consistency! I was a little disappointed because I thought the 2nd tank would be better then the first. I know the break in is about 1000 miles. Now I am at 750 miles. Tomorrow though Friday I will put on 400 more, all highway. I won’t use the CC and will try to take it easy. I won’t have much of a chance to change speed much. Any concerns with this? Thanks

to optimize your MPG it is highly recommended that you use cruise control, if youre still not happy with your MPG try and pick up a cold air intake....

Yes CC will give best MPG but I am still sub 1200 miles. CC is the worst treatment during breakin. I will try to not stay at a constant speed. This is what the OM says to do.

Thanks

Thanks, did you wait for the first scheduled service or did you change yours early? I am thinking to drop just the oil early, not the filter.

I'm at 1900 miles and I have seen everything from 34.6 to 24.2(fun day). I did change the oil @1200 miles. There was a slight improvement, but my conditions change daily. Might be stuck in DC traffic or there might be open roads.

Side note: I noticed SOME improvement with the Cold Air Intake. Seems to use less pedal at speed, Of course the WOT has improved also. but not we are not talking MPG.

One of the younger parents at the local grade school told me today in passing that he's only getting 17 - 18 mpg out of his 2008 Versa. I suspect he's a leadfoot and the car is used 100% around town. I don't know what other mods he may have on the car. I don't know what transmission he has, either, but he didn't look too pleased when I told him I was getting my 27.9 average over the last two years.

Hopefully I'll get a little free time the next time I see him and be able to find out what he's done (or is doing) to the car.

I have the 1.6 and my gas mileage is better then I hoped for.My first tank I got 38mpg. On my second tank, I know I drove harder, and was still able to get 36 mpg.I know if you use a/c alot mileage will go down also, if you leave your windows down on the highway it causes more drag so that will affect you too. It's better to leave windows up and a/c on, driving on the highway.

I'm on the fourth tank on my second Versa and have been pleasantly surprised that it's exactly the same as my first. It's averaging 33.7 so far, with tanks from 33.3 to 34.4, although I don't believe in looking at individual tanks' figures due to inconsistencies in filling, etc. But so far it's right in line with the last 15,000 miles on my first Versa, with the same driving conditions. (I'm sure the mileage will drop in winter, as it has in every other car I've ever driven.)

just hit 200 miles and at half way mark on gas gauge. This is using mostly stop/go primary 2-3 lane roads (speed limits 45/55) with a/c on 1 and 2.

I have now completed my 3rd and 4th tanks of gas on my new 1.8 SL with CVT. My 3rd was almost all highway and = 37.6 mpg. My 4th was mixed and was = 33.2 mpg. I am driving the car harder since it is now post breakin. 1200 miles. Have to see how this impacts the mpg.

Cheers

I've got just over 3000 miles on mine (I have had the car for 1 month last Friday) And I have been averaging ~34mpg every tank. There was one tank where I only got 30mpg, but that was also the same time I decided to see how fast the car would go in 2nd gear (59mph uphill). I also got 'pushed' up to 100mph during the same tank.

I'm pretty pleased. My daily commute is 90 miles, 40 of which is highway, the rest stop and go 'city' work.

Don't you suppose some of it has to do with that SF-area address? I run into no stop-and-go traffic, and most my driving is at "real" highway speed. Looking at a map of the Antioch area, I wouldn't think that would be your experience, and your decent mileage on your trip to Yosemite seems to bear that out.

You're right. There are a lot of stops and traffic lights. I also share a car with my wife, and we both live very close to our jobs. Short trips don't help. It is still MUCH better than my old Jeep Cherokee!
