While searching through the dealership inventory listings, I found a dealer about 3 hours away that has just received a car that is what I am waiting for. I immediately called the dealer and was informed that this particular vehicle would be their newest demo car. He would pre-sell it to me, but would not be able to release it until a replacement arrives. I contacted my own local dealer where I have put my deposit down, and said go get it boys!! They indicated that the other dealer would not release the car. So close but yet so far!!!

I wouldn't pre-buy a demo car. You're paying for factory miles but getting god knows how many test-drive miles. And as far as I know, people tend to get a little enthusiastic on test drives sometimes.

Sounds like a bad deal.

acutally demos are your best deal as a consumer. Dealerships usually mark them close to invoice to move them out of inventory your warranty starts from delivered milage, and I know personally if a customer is "ragging out" on of my vehicles they may find themselves sitting in the backseat or walking thats my life at stake out there. Most salesman feel the same way. Even if they drive a little crazy if someone else is doing it its not cool.

Especially since most of the people driveng that way are not going to buy anyway they are just out for a thrill. I had one guy who thought we were on a road course in a Z he found himself walking back to the dealership.

Sorry to deter from topic but the most common complaint about demos is there are usually scratches or dents or damaged inside. If you bring this to the dealerships attention they should take care of it. If not remind them of the Delivery Checklist and Survey that you will be recieving...you'll find that Survey scores are huge for nissan. We must make our customers happy!!!!

What would be the reasoning for not selling me that car right now, and pick another demo from his inventory? I would have to wait another 3-4 weeks for a used demo, or 3-4 weeks for my brand new striaght from the factory car.

Well I would think that people are more likely to buy if they are able to test drive. If he can get 10 people to test drive and get 5 people to order a car, he's made a heck of a lot more than selling that one vehicle. Just a theory.
