I have an S13 with a S14 SR20DET motor and I cannot for the life of me get it to start. It cranks and it actually has some backfire but it won't start. I've replaced the starter, the alternator, the battery, my spark plugs, the fuel pump, and I've even redone my wiring harness, and it just won't start.

It's turning over, and there is definitely fuel pressure, and pressure in the valves. It's making a loud popping noise out of the downpipe when I'm trying to start it which means it's getting some combustion. I've also worked on the timing, sitting there just moving the cam angle sensor back and forth, but the damn thing won't start.

I know hardly anybody has this motor so I'm not expecting much help, but any ideas or tips would be great. Thanks.

has it ever started before?? or first time swap?? check mafs circuit, check ecu codes and when you go to start it, do you feather the gas pedal??? if not then do it.

Ya, it was running one day, and the next it wouldn't start. I'm almost positive my maf is ok, but I'll check it anyways. My ecu isn't throwing out any codes either. And yes I've feathered the gas pedal when I try starting it, thanks for the ideas...

on your sr20, there's a little grey clip right after the intake filter, connected to your MAF. i can't count how many times i've ripped everything ELSE trying to fix my problems, just to find it wasn't clipped all the way.

during my t28 swap, i had accidentally knocked it loose because i didn't completely clip it, and spent the rest of the week trying to figure it out. finally, my dad came downstairs, looked at it, pushed it in, and then boom! done.

there's a little stainless wire clip around it; just make sure it's how it's supposed to be.

during your swap, were you sure to connect all of the hoses exactly how they were supposed to be?

if for some reason this doesn't work, i would definitely check your timing since you failed to mention any adjustment with your CAS sensor.

Check your CAS like JDM Master said buy make sure you use a good timing light. Your car could be 180 out. Mine was. G/L
