yea, i was rollin through the subaru dealership after work yesterday and it just died....It hesitated like it was gonna stall then just plain quit. i wasnt driving it hard, fast, didnt hit anything, nothing abnormal. just rollin through the new legacys. it would crank, but wouldnt start. plus it has a extremtly rough crank like a fat man swaying my car side to side w/ a real nasty clanking sound. i hope its not finish for. looks like back to honda prelude i go........

anyone have ideas. it has oil and gas and everything should be "normal" thanks everyone

fuel pump. If no fuel in engine, rough cranking. Plus you were cranking it too much to try and start it when its obviously dead.

Pull your carpet outta the trunk and test your pump by turning your key to the second forward position on the ignition switch. Listen for a whirring noise for about a second.

How many miles are on the car?It sounds like my prelude when the timing belt broke and the pistons had kissy kissy time with the valves.I doubt that the chain would just break though. It isn't the starter btw.

Not sure if the S14's have a diagnostic computer like the S13's, but if it does, is it throwing any codes and what codes if it is?

there's always a possibility that the pump will die while driving, I don't see any reason as to why it wouldnt. Just go through what everyone else has suggested.. it's only a matter of trial and error to find out whats wrong.
