My S14 has issues, I NEED HELP!!

Ok heres the deal, I bought this car back in March (1st). Its a 1996 Zenki SE and needed some work. I was super excited about it because I grabbed it for what I thought was a killer deal, now I am totally bummed because it sustained (hit and run) front end damage, I don't know if its worth keeping. I'll post pics tonight, but here's my list of tasks:

1)Windshield needs glass/rubber2)JDM hood has driverside damage (after hit)3)Bumper must be replaced (after hit)4)Driver headlight must be replaced (after hit)5)Sunroof rails must be replaced6)Passenger Rear Quarter Panel is badly damaged7)Needs Paint & dings fixed8)Engine has a tap in valve cover....(arrrg 189k.mileage)9)Its an SE with 4-LUGS!!!!(previous owner jacked them)10)Front Tires/Allignment

So yeah...I'm new to the 240sx platform, and I'm looking forward to working on my own...but Its never a clear line when you are in over your head. I need advice!!

#3,4,5 can all be sourced from junkyards for not much money. then spend some real money and get a good paint job at a reputable shop and they should take care of #6 and #7.

a day at an automotive glass replacement place can take care of #1

im not sure how to replace the sunroof rails but you may be able to do that yourself if you have the proper tools.

#8 is probably timing belt guides, nissan made these obsolete you can search for the removal procedures.

#9 does it have white face gauges, if not he sold you a base as an se and thats fraud. if it does and you are worried about wheel selection look no further than spl parts for the 4 lug fn01rc's they sell. and brake rotors can be redrilled so that they fit 4 lug

I will post pics tonight, and yes the guages are white. It does have VLSD.

Now #8 may be timing chain guide, I have yet to remove it. Although I did speak with an experienced 240 owner for years who said it was unlikely that was the timing chain guide, but i'll try it anyway. Appreciate the responses!!

#9 Not all SE's came with 5 lugs, I believe this was just an option.

Well, the previous owner did let me know he was taking the 5 lug setup, so I'm certain of the lug conversion...nonetheless I can work with 4 lug. Although at this point I may purchase either an S13 or save up for another S14. I still don't know what I am to do with this car. I have replaced the plugs, wires, rotors, brakes, fuel pump, fixed emmissions, radio console bezel, and oil. I guess I've spent at least another $300 or so fixing it's minor problems. Its raining outside so that will postpone pics until tommorrow when its nice and sunny.

He's my roomate, and I think he should just sell the car. Save up for a new one.

We only live a mile from work, and we both work at the SAME place, and I would have no problem driving him. Though it is a pain for him, cause i know he hates asking me to go everywhereEven in the condition it is in - I think he would still get what he paid for it back.

Please tell him to do so lol

#10 yes infact all S14 SE's are 5 lug... that's the key element that seperates them from all other trims!

OK so I decided to keep the car!! I've pulled out that quarter panel quite it a bit (maybe save some shop work), this weekend may take off valve cover to remove timing chain guide, all I need is a windshield and I'll be happy Also, I assume I have ABS...although can't find the control module the FSM so kindly located for me in the trunk. Any ideas?

When you start the car up if it has ABS the ABS dash light will flash like everything else.+1 for saving a zenki that wasn't too far gone.

Yes I am excited to see how it turns out Damn was ABS optional on the SE model? Because it doesn't have an ABS light...

Yeah, ABS was an option, as was the LSD, security and leather, and so on.
