Hi!Bin busy with other projects, but Im making progress with this aswell.
Gut some help from a friend with painting and sanding the engine bay.Thougt it looked good in black, but this was just the primer. We sanded the primer before the real basecoat.Mixed the paint, it took two layers of basecoat and 3 layers of
I have started putting the car back together, but it takes time. Since I clean and paint all parts. And try not to scratch the paint hehe
I gut my engine block and crank back. Since I use ARP nuts and bults in the block fore my mainbearing caps I have to Line horn the block. When you use another torque then standard the maincaps become deformed. I used the correct torque acording too ARP, and then I measured the maincaps. They had lost its form. So I turned the block in fore a line horn. And to get the crank corrected, it was not straight and had some marks. So they straightend it and grinded it, 0,5mm on the main and 0,7 on the rod.
Once I gut the stuff back I mounted the bearings in the block and in the rods. Then I torque them with the right nm and messured inside the block and rods. Then I messured the diametern each off the journals on the crank. I did this to get an exact reading of the bearing gap. It should be correct acourding to the machinist. But you should never asume anything when building an engine. This is when I found that it was a problem.
Seams like they have horned my block to far, so I have 0,04mm to much bearing gap on the mains. I want to have 0,05on the mains but I have 0,09. And the problem is that I already have the widest bearings. So now we have to grind the maincaps and rehorn the block. Wich will take more time
A picture of the rod wich want be apart of my engine this year hehe.
Picture of the flang I will use fore the downpipe, gut tired on removing the downpipe with all 5bolts. So I welded a v-band on it, so now it should be done with one nut Also a picture of my home made trigger fore the NIRA enginemanagement system. I used a 60lost2 trigger from saab.
